IROC vs. GT

ok guys, i never armchair race but i need opinions on this. my 86 iroc against an 89-91 GT stang 5 spd all stock except for CAI. assume my car has all the items installed that are under the "waiting to be installed" header in my sig plus an HO dual snorkel air cleaner. do i stand a chance? i figure i should be around mid low 15's with all the stuff installed.....

ps. the bog is gone and the absent 2-3 shift should be gone in about a week so the time in my sig is grossly inaccurate...

You'll need some more work than that to beat an 88-89 5-speed 5.0(good for low 14's), keep modifing.

Depends on the driver as to where in the 14's it'll be, but there's no excuse for a 5 speed 5.0 to be in the 15's.

If your talking about an auto (AOD) backed 5.0 than yes, they're only good for high 14's-low 15's stock, but 5-speed 5.0 w/ a good driver can be pushed to low 14's some even say high 13's.

KEEP MODDING.

YANK THAT WEENIE CAM OUT OR AT LEAST PUT SOME 1.6 ROCKERS ON THE HEADS. YOU CAN GET STAMPED 1.6 ROCKERS FROM SUMMIT FOR LIKE 65 BUCKS. GIVE YOU 15 HORSE OR SO, WITH ALL THE FREE FLOW MODS YOU'VE GOT, YOU NEED SOME FLOW NOW!!!!! WHEN MY RS HAD THE TBI ON IT W/ 305 STOCK CAM, THE ROCKERS WERE PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST MODS I COULD HAVE DONE! (for the money at least)

Well, your gonna be seeing stang tailights. Are you sure its all stock except for the cai? (useless btw) No hpipe and cat back? No bumped timing? No underdrive pulleys? I dont know to many Mustangs out there with just a cai. Ill be nice and guess your car will run a high 80's in the 1/4. A 5.0/5spd stang like the stock one you mentioned will trap anywhere from 95-98 depending on driver/weather/weight. Sorry, but your gonna get smoked, but try it anyway and have safe fun

I got a car for you, wanna try it? I'll give ya 2 and the brake

gotta say, no chance in hell if he can drive. Sorry if I'm being redundant...

:hail: 5.0 Foxes!

I'm sure it has Flows, also. Never seen a 5.0 with stock exhaust....

Hey i gotta question for you...my friend has a 94 5.0 he has full exhaust headers, x pipe etc. 3.73 gears, 5 spd, intake and a chip, he does have some traction problems but the best he could do 15.4@91, i know his car should but quite a bit faster than that, i like his car its really nice but i give hime crap all the time cuz he has like 14k into his car including 8k for the car and i have not even 4k total into mine and hes only .4 faster in the 1/4

Your friend is either the worst driver in the world or something is wrong with his car. Tell him to shoot me an IM sometime so we can talk about his car and see what's going wrong.

All these 15 second Mustangs!!!

Mine was in the 15s, with 2.73 gears, A)D and just headers! Actually 15.3 at 91 to be exact! Any stock 5.0 5-speed should be 14.4-14.8!

I have seen one bone stock 5.0, and we own it. It is an 87 GT, AOD, and still has the air silencer in it!

Your average everyday 5.0 with bolt-ons is a mid 13 to low 14 second car!

My coupe ran 15.30's with a stock aod and bone stock non-HO motor (140 hp)...no excuse at all for a 5 speed 5.0 to run 15's.

A buddy of mine has a 91 gt hatchback. 15/8 headers, 3:73's, built tranny(auto), rockers, lifters, chip, exhaust. i pulled him twice by a bout two cars.

My car is pretty stock engine wise all the free stuff, 3:27 posi, built tranny. they can be had. 305ci guys might find it tough, not the 350 guys though hahahha

With fairly similar mods my car was going 14.8-14.9! The AODs are one of the worst trannys ever. Add a stick into that car, and he would have you by 2-3 cars! Just something to think about.
