s2000 is an amazing car though in my eyes... small motor fast. light wieght. can cut the turns


only problem I have ever seen with htem is the low end torque on them


but they do make a supercharger for them that seams to work fairly well

close to 300hp usein 11:1 compression and 6 pounds of boost...


something else though that I have heard about them is if you put some springs in them that drop the car the rear end becomes very happy

 

a supercharged s2000 would be something to watch out for!!

The S2000 gets my award for 'Least Potential With Aftermarket Parts'. Seriously. It is designed so well from the factory that any mod you make to it will hardly increase performance (except for a supercharger .. but that CR on boost makes me wonder how long that'll last). I read something on it once that said aftermarket intake, headers, and full exhaust netted 6 rwhp. All for $2000 in mods (Spoon stuff ... overpriced ...). Sounds lame, but it just goes to show that the S2000 comes from the factory pretty much maxxed out as far as performance and potentail. I dont think any other N/A car at that displacement level would ever be able to compete. They are good cars.

 

isn't there aftermarket kinda limited right now as well?


I would think new intake manifold, cams, and exhuast work might help out a little bit on this car

Yeah my car is pretty much the same way.. Bought a comptech cat back and I really can't feel much difference.. The intake was a different story though..

Its a preview for the s2000r. Sure, many of you would spend $54,000 on something else.. But if you love honda and you want even more power.. this I guess is for you..

N/A Inline 6 cylinder, 230 ft/lbs TQ, 360 HP.. 12.8 @ 117 mph..

Yeah, still a huge waste of money but for the same weight as a miata, and 360 HP.. It has got to be fun to drive..

A different cam in one to give it a better low end would DEFINITLEY be something to watch for, all in all they're actually not that bad, I wouldn't drive one, but they're not that bad. If one gets into the hands of someone who knows what they're doin' with it, we'll have something to watch for.

The S2000R is being released in Japan in 2003, and I think we all know how long it takes them to release anything statewide(depriving me of good anime.) I doubt it will be released stateside with that much power, considering very few actual Type R's are released in the US. The only one from Honda I can think of is the Integra.

 

well for 54000, I could care less if it were released here or not.. I can't afford that kind of $$$...

for 54K you could buy a really sweet z06 and rape that thing all night long in front of its mom:Rockon:......

for potential on the s2000 i doubt, you'll see a very large aftermarket for them at all. because they are fairly rare to start with, and they have a platform specific engine that is only in that car. it simply wouldnt be profitable to produce performance parts for that car.

the only reason they make performance stuff for the wankels in rx-7's is they made they damn things for so long, there are **** loads of them....so there is a market, if i designed a new head for an s2000, whose gonna buy it? not many people. For the most part the people that buy those things are not interested in working on them anyways

 

but you have to get into the mindset of the owners of the s2000. mostly all of them must be rich, so i doubt that there will be a problem with an aftermarket. albeit a niche aftermarket. but all that will happen is that the manufacturers will raise the price, and the owners will probably be able to afford it. it is all about $$$

 

don't forget the almost cult like following they have

yeah ppl buy the rx7 but the ones that look to buy an rx7 not taking it just b/c it's cheap and there are the ones that will work with and follow that car.... it's like a child to them

 

almost every kind of car has that type of following in one form or another....the s2000 will most likely never have that kind of following because the people that can afford and do drive those cars arent gear heads for the most part.....also, if you ask me as a car it just has no soul....theres no spirit to it. its like a cross between a BMW z3 and a miata with a weird engine.

 

The S2000 is a very nice platform (about time they went RWD) and it would nice to see honda put a real engine one of those things. Sure they sure do get a ton of power out of a four banger but its still only 240 hp. Until then, its more of a "dig-me" car IMHO. If i was in the market for a 2 seat roadster i'd shell out a little more for a Z06 which, aside from the obvious fact that it will blow the doors off an s2000 in a straight-away, is a better all-around car.
