The Slowest Race Ever
The Slowest Race Ever
I was just in the slowest race ever witnessed to a living human. Me and my freind had just got done with bowling and had finished eating at Wendy's when we were heading back to my freinds house. We were heading down 224 when we saw a 91 or so RS Cavalier with the MaD tYt3 Pep-Boy "chrome" hubcaps and the blue interior lights. He was going the same way we were.
He turned left onto South Ave which is a 4 lane street, 2 lanes each way. He turned into the far lane, and show how MaD tYt3 our ride was, we floored it past him. The car we were in is a 91 Acclaim 2.5 v-4, called the "Beast from the East". The funny thing is that the muffler had fallen off awhile ago and it just has a tip bracketed on. When the car is floored to about 40 and you left off the gas, you can hear a boom which I think is from the back pressure. I think that the Cav driver thought that we wanted to race so we get at a light next to him. As with a lot of ppl to show that he had a stick he rolled his car back almost hitting the Caddy that is behind him.
We go from a stop and it is even up to about 40 then my freind pulls a fender or so on the Cav, and holds it till about 70 when the Cav pulls a few feet ahead by 80. The amount of time it took to get up to this speed was just funny. It was like a pair of snails racing. After he beat us we covered our faces in shame and headed home. Just to prove how "cool" he was, he flew by us on a double yellow line and showed how MaD tYt3 his Cav was.
small side note: His girlfreind and a male freind were in the car cheering the driver on. His girlfreind was quite chubby and had a pig nose. When he flew by I yelled nice WalMart hubcaps and the g/f flicked me off.

Last night I raced ChrisFormula355. He was driving his sister's Vortec Chevy Pickup and I was driving his sister's boyfriends 85 or so Honda Civic which had a slight stalling problem. So the light turns green and he spins to around 60 MPH... and I'm still in first gear. He pulls about 8 cars on me (still spinning) as my speedo climbs to 15 mph. Then he slows down and pulls into my lane to make a turn ahead... I still have it floored.. and the speedo made it to a healthy 30 MPH before I caught up to him, already slowed down.
It was the slowest car I have ever driven. And I used to have a 40hp 1192cc engine in my 61 bug.

My car is pretty slow in the normal overdrive position because I have to floor it to get the engine to rev over 2500 rpm. 0-40 is ok, but the time it takes me to get to 85 mph seems to take. I doesn't take nearly as long if I let the revs go over 4,000 rpm. I have over 100k on my engine so need to take it easy so nothing breaks while on school breaks.
Pretty much any race I am in is a slow race.

i had an old dodge aries as my first car. the thing was if you floored it at about 60 the tranny would downshift sucessfully slowing you down.

My first car in high school was an '87 Formula with an LG4 and a T5, and it was pretty ****ing slow. It didn't seem so bad in 1st gear but once you hit 2nd you were disappointed. I remember my friend had an '85 CRX HF (HF is the slower high-MPG model of the already slow CRX...had an 1.3L ~70hp motor). We raced sometimes and it was a lot closer than you'd think. My car would peg-leg through a bunch of 1st on a hard launch by which time his little POS was ahead by a car or so. Then i'd hit 2nd and slowly overtake him. And here i am paying a lot more for insurance for some old POS that got 12 mpg and could hardly beat an '80s econobox honda. When i finally got 2 decent cars, it felt all the more sweeter.

I had a 1980 Chevy Monza with a 4 cyl. in it and I couldn't break the speed limit in the 1/4 mile.
The only way I could spin the tire was to be rolling backward and slam it into drive and floor it. Even then it would just chirp. Slow, slow car but it was a good part runner.

The slowest I have been in was one of the old VW with the unmodded aged 1.6l engine. I think it put out some fierce 54bhp. The old 3cylinder Festivas are pretty slow too. They are extremely loud.

I had forgotten about those. The stock 1/4 mile times on those were 22 seconds. I think they topped out speed wise before they reached the end.
