beat a vette yesterday

i was making a right on to a street at a red light. not knowing that a vette was infront of me. as i was going through my cd's i heard a rev. i looked around and i realized holy sh*t a vette actually rev'd. so i rev'd back. both of us made the right and immediatly hopped on it. he was pulling slowly until yes a vette driver missed a gear then he saw pontiac tail lights till the next light. gave him the nod and drove away. its all about the driver, even a gta with the L98 can beat a vette.

got revved on by a vette

One day I was leavin school and I saw a REALLY beastly lookin vette comin the other way on the road. I had just revved on my friend when he went by me cuz we always do that sorta thing... so i see this late 60s vette with phat exhaust and jsut a beast of an engine and some goofy lookin middle aged guy is drivin it and he starts revvin on me. lemme tell you it scared the **** outta me cuz I could barely hear my engine rev when i was inside cuz his was so loud. but i really hate it when people rev on me when they are goin the opposite direction.

not always.

in 84' the C4s had the crossfire 350 with round taillights, and for 91' they had the square ones with the L98

AND...the ZR-1 Vettes had square tail lights too.
Basically, if it has square tail lights, don't take him on unless you're modded. I'm modded and an LT1 still got a clean carlength on me.

Also, ANY of the 80's/90's Vettes will way out handle you. My brother has a 1990 L98 Vette, and although it's a lot slower than mine, I would NEVER challenge him on a twisty road. I have never been in a car that handled like those things.

One more exception...if it's a big block Vette, don't even try. Right off the showroom floor, they were 12 to 13 second machines, and that's before the owners modified them. Any Vettes in good condition running a rat motor today, you can pretty much forget about. And that, my friends, is a 12 or 13 second quarter on ancient skinny tires. With today's drag radials, forget it.

(My other car IS a Vette. Modified of course. 670 hp 427 big block 1968 Roadster. Great acceleration, TERRIBLE gas mileage. I guess I'm one of those "goofy" middle aged guys).

Haha, last summer I got revved at by a older Viper! Silver with blue stripes, it sounded soo nasty. Oh man, I floored it while he was in front of me on a two lane road to pass, and I pull next to him and it was over. He was so gone I just kept laughing. I can only imagine a Z06 or something doing that. Hey tpivette89, did you get rid of your vette or is it just out of your sig? I remember you took the times out a while ago because people who were going to race you kept checking this site for the times.

My best kills at the track were againts a 99 Vette. the guy ran a 14.8, 13.8, 17.?, and a 14.3! I went 14.4 (had the AOD at the time ) three time, and then 14.6 when I let off because it was a bracket race.

A driver can make any car look bad! That was an easy mid to low 13 second car, with a 14 second driver.

the Vette is out of my sig for a few reasons...

1) this is a 3rdgen website. i also have a 94' Formula (actually i bought it for my girlfriend) and i dont include that in my sig either

2) i might be forced to sell it because im buying a house in the next few months and i may need the extra money. hopefully that wont happen, but if it does i have to prioritize

3) im thinking about building up the old LG4 - boltons at first, followed by other mods to showcase the motor that most people laugh at and say cant be made fast. my signature will now reflect the changes ive made to the Z28 as well as resulting 1/4 mile times and dyno #s

Yeah, i'll be building my LG4 too, looks like you have a bit of a head start with the gears and 1/4 mile times. Good luck, and I hope you can keep the vette.

cant agree with you more, a while ago when i was at the track and still in the 15s before a lot of my mods i raced an 02 z06, i ran a 15.2 to his 17.6 or something, it was some old guy that had no idea how to drive, we drove straight through the water and lined up, had to of killed the tires of the line(if he had the tcs off) i was ahead of him and i about **** my pants i couldnt believe i was beating a z06, then after the race i wanted to beat his *** for making that car look soo bad, i think his best run all night he actually got it in the high 14s but most were 15-17 range...bastard.

Whate made mine nice was after we left the line I had him in my rear view mirror the whole way down. Then in the pits he asked what I had done to the car (obviousely knew nothing). he was amazed when my dad ran a 13.5 right after us, and popped the hood!

Some people just shouldn't have Vettes!

It applies to most cars, but I see it ALOT with Vettes. For some reason the Vette community seems to have a lot of bad drivers! I guess money buys a lot, just not a good driver.

you are right about that too, i rarely see vettes get out of the 13s at the track, they should take all the money they have and spend some of it at a driving school
