Killed a Viper....
To about 10 then he got traction!...it was great I was driving with my cutout open and pulled up next to yellow viper, sweet looking car but way too much money, anyways he i give a couple quick revs but didnt expect him to play, but he actually bit the bait and went for it, light turned green we were even for a about 10-12 feet and then yea that was about the end of that one, I just leave it at "I was humiliated"...fun nonetheless, not very often rich people drive their cars like their supposed to be driven.
I've had a couple experiences like that in my LS1, except I didnt do too bad really. On the way back from texas when i had just picked up my car I was driving on the interstate at around 70 and this older yellow viper passes me and floors it and I was so excited to have even seen a viper I mashed it too and got up beside him, smiled then took off, to my suprise he didnt pull on me one bit. That was the first experience I had with the LS1 power. Then on the next day of traveling back home I got in a race with a ferrari 360 modena. I nearly crapped my pants just seeing that thing, let alone getting to play around with one. We never really raced but none the less I got to see a 360 ferrari go at it. I was like hell yeah! Sweetest thing I think ive ever had the opportunity to watch.
With a 96 trap 13s would be questionable. I went 13.9 at 99 with a 2.0 60', but I have also seen 13.6 with a 96 trap and a 1.7x 60'! The 60' plays a huge role.
The only Viper encounter we had was in my dads car, and it was stock at the time. The Viper pulled next to us and we just watched as he took off. The funniest part was when a Talon tried to catch him and my dad jumped on it and walked the Talon!

yea 60' plays a huge role, but if i could get down to say 1.9 60' that would be approx. .7 of the 60', and the general rule is .2 for every .1 in the 60' so theoretically that would be 1.4sec, which would yeild a 13.8, and im sure with a much better 60' i would pick up 1-2mph...not gonna happen for a while but nice to know all i need is traction

I remember when I beat a viper, good thing that car was parked or I would have never won, j/k Yeah nice story, I love just seeing those cars race, cuz it's very rare to see one and when you DO see one, they are driving like 35 in a 55 or something. I remember I saw an 80's lambo twice in the same day, and twice the guy was either stopped or going below the speed limit, it's nice to see them race
One day I went 2 go get gas (remember that i live in this small little town) and I saw this viper parked backwards into the parking space. So I looked at my friend and smiled and backed into the parking space next to his car. He come outa the store and I was like hey wana run em? He smiles and says yeah and we start talking to him about him car and so on. He said that the best he could ever do with it was high 13's........I'm not shure if this is right or not but arent the 4th gen. Camaros 14's and 13s with a few mods? I thought that the Vipers would be a little faster than this? Anyways as he was leaving I tried 2 keep up with him but couldnt hang long. :lala:
He must not have been a very good driver then. The early vipers could run high 12's and as the years went by they kept getting faster. LT1 4th gens usually run a high 13 to a low 14 where as LS1's usually run high 12's to low 13's stock. Its always nice to see a sweet car like that isnt it. I dont think I will ever forget the ferrari encounter I had.

Just to tag onto this story about being raped by nice cars....Anniversay 4th Gen T/A, my friends' mid-70's Stingray Vette, and me (........2.8........'87.....'Bird....), 'lined up (somehow caught a light) doentown OShawa on Saturday on the way to play pool. I got left like I was in reverse, then the Vette got worked by the T/A. Of course, the Stingray's all stock, just picked up this week, and I like the way they look anyways...but damn, those 4th Gen's can move sometimes...
me and my friend were cruising his GTP one night when we pulled up to a sharp red viper. we sent out some revs to him and he got the message. he starts of kinda slow, and then hammers it. he shifts into second so hard, the whole car does a 90 degree turn to the right. he ended up upside down in the ditch, he was fine, but the viper was mangled. turns out the young punk just got his license. must of been his daddies car

I raced a 2002 Viper (assuming because it had paper plates) a month back twice. Once at the 1st light I dident go at it too hard because I wasent sure he would play, keept nearly neck and neck. The second light I stomped too hard and stalled it, shizty stock converter.
Good story man. The few times I have had encounters w/Vipers I was never in my car, but, I could always "feel" them before I could see them. Some of those things can shake the ground. And I don't feel sorry for that kid either. Most 16yr olds shouldn't start out with any real power. You must learn to respect it first, otherwise you'll end up in a ditch upside down...
