Why don't people pick on people their own size?

Okay, the other day I was out cruising and a mustang was trying to start something with me (there was TONS of cops out, we were actually driving just watching people get pulled over for entertainment) and I wouldn't. So I wait for him at a light and he comes up, so I rev, and he revs and this godawful whistle comes out from under the hood (hmmmmmm I wonder). Obviously he has a faster car (sad to say) but am I the only one who when driving a car much faster than stock who won't pick on anything unless it picks on me first? I have a 350 in my car, runs mid 14's, a much faster car than when it had the LG4, but my car doesnt even have ground effects so it looks like a plain jane firebird with exhaust tips. Seriously, am I the only one who "speaks softly and carries a big stick"? After talking smack to a G60 Carrado with my 2.8, I learned the lesson of never run your mouth. I wait for the day that mustang guy pulls up against a real sleeper.

Well some people on pick on stuff when they know they are not likely to lose. If he had a power adder under there I probably would have been an insane *** whipping. Keep in mind though that it could have been one of those damned fake blow off vavles I keep hearing about.

Personally I would put a N20 setup on your car and you would have a pretty good setup. Good enough to take LT1's for sure. Maybe even LS1s. For so little money I think it would work well for your combo and give you impressive results.

Case and point i raced a civic from a light, just thought hey another honda to beat around, but this one took me out by 1/2 a car at the 1/8th mark and then started pulling on my alittle more so i let off. I asked around my friends and one said yeah he runs 13.8's so i didnt feel too bad.

Looks to me like you've got a huge gawdy cowl hood there. Add that to a full exhaust with the hint of a non stock cam... Gee, why would anyone pick on the "little" guy

Ive got a 2 5/8" cowl and my exhaust is not that loud. The tips are the hooker ones. My car does not sound all that mean, and this guy obviously had a blower by the sound. Now that I look at it, I guess it really doesnt scream sleeper

I don't pick on anything, I look over at anxious drivers sometimes... the ones that seem to really want to be the first in the pack... most of the time I get picked on by smaller stuff... of course my '93-'97 bodystyle makes everybody think I have a piddly 3.4 under the hood (not everybody knows the 3.8 was introduced full swing in '96)... I'll run whatever revs at me... but laying down a 0-60 of less than 7 secs usually puts them in their place.
