I Think I Got Sprayed

So, I was on the highway, going to work last week. I pull up next to what I thought was a Chevy Lumina. We were doing about eighty. I heard him punch it, so I did the same. I heard what sounded like a gurgling noise coming from his car and he started pulling on me. I let off around 100. I have an l98 and I had my a/c going. He had his windows open. My car needs some work, but I didn't think a Lumina was all that fast, especially at higher speeds.

most of the luminas had a 3.1 V6 and some had the 3.8. they were big cars so they alot better from a roll than off the line

If those are the motors that they come with then it sounds like they'd give my Taurus a run for it's money. It shouldn't have been a problem for my z28. That's why I was wondering about the gurgling sound that I heard. Do nitrous system have a sound like this associated with them?

when someone hits the juice, their engine screams, a lot louder than even under normal heavy throttle. and you can smell it. are you sure you were really trying? an TPI isn't a top end motor, and don't be so shocked if the 3.8 was pulling on you, I've seen a 3.8 olds run a 15.3 completely stock, those fuggers could really move!!!

hey dave what's up? if you want a baseline for your car, let me know a date so we can run our cars. there's a some tbi guys you can run as well and see how you stand. all in fun you know . the a/c is power hungry little bastard, but a necessity around here. as for the lumina it's doubtful he had spray, (who would want to spray a lumina?) but you never know......

My mom has a '92 or so Lumina 3.1 I believe, it's rather quick for what it is. But wouldn't hang with an L98.

Well, by your description, it doesn't sound like he was spraying. I thought for sure I'd take him, especially since I have the crappy 2.73 gears. That should have helped me on the highway (I think). Maybe it wasn't a Lumina. Oh, that's right...it was a Viper. Yeah, right. Hey Mystiikkal. Long time no see. I think I'll take you up on that offer, but I've been lazy lately. I STILL haven't taken care of that overheating problem that I was telling you about. I need to get in gear and take care of it. I also decided to go ahead and get the 22lb injectors like the ones you have. I haven't ordered them yet, but I'll do that after I get my radiator flushed. I'll let you know when I get that stuff done, and maybe you can help me do a little fine tuning.

It could have been a Z34. Those had a 3.4 DOHC engine. Made like 200-210 HP and like 225 or so torque. They are pretty fast top end, would probally beat TPI top end because of DOHC. But dont worry, the fastest 3.4 DOHC is low 14s on the bottle, or so I have been told.

Well, it was 0500am so it was kind of dark. I remember it was grey, but not positive that it was a Lumina. Sheesh, most of the cars look so much alike now a days, it's hard to tell the imports from the domestic cars. The big thing lately is the huge squarish headlights. Everyone has them in their car line somewhere. So much for originality.
