I got shnoockerd(misspelled)

Last night my friend calls me and says he wants to run me in my girlfriends 98 T/A . It has WS6 exhaust and ram air ,and a power programmer, I ran a 13 flat my first run ever at a track in it. He has a 69 RS with a 327 thats pushin like 320hp , he has a mild cam , headers , exhaust, 3.73 gear, edelbrocke intake, and a 650 double pumper carb. He ran a 13.5 the same day I ran my girlfriends car at the track. I asked him what he did to give him so much confidence and he said I added a carb spacer and a K&N filter . So I am like OK if you want your a$$ handed to you lets go. So I meet him at the local drag strip and he shows up with no hood and his air cleaner standing up like 4 inches out of the engine bay.He also gutted out his interior . All he had in it was what he need to drive the car , nothing else.So I run him (because I told him I would ) and he beats me by 1 and half car lengths, can you believe that $hit .Good thing it was only for $10 but now he has bragging rights . Oh well I am going to pick up a new MAF and throttle bodie monday so we will see who gets the last laugh.

Car: Check The Sig
there is no need even on a LS1 to get a bigger throttle body. I would swap on a LS6 intake if you havent done it yet, also maybe a better exhaust. That seems to be standard game plan for all pre '01 LS1's. headers wouldnt hurt either. What kind of tires are you running? and rear gears?

Like bigal said, a tb aint gonna help ya out unless you need the extra flow. Even a maf isn't worth the money imo when you can either port your own or get a set of ported ends for it. Do you have a lid on it yet? Also a cutout will help too.....

then a converter
then nitrous
and so on and so on.....

dude, pick up a hpp mag NOW. It has the 15 donts for ls1's. Also the 15 dos. screw it, I'll tell you what it says 1. Dont mess with the maf 2. dont use platinum-tipped plugs with a super-charger 3. dont put on a ported or larger throttle body (unless your up to 600 ponies) 4. dont delete the torque management table or kncok sensor 5. dont run high compression heads with a SC 6. dont redline it past 6,000 rpm's 7. dont get a better intake manifold untill you do heads, cam, etc (you'll only pick up 10 hp if you do) 8. dont install surplus sewer pipe. 9. dont use 160' thermo. 10. dont over-cam it 11. dont use O2 simulaters up front 12. make SURE you get underdrive pulleys that wont mess anything up. 13. under 450 horses N/A, stay with stock injectors 14. Dont rely on internet a.k.a. US!! 15. Dont invest in shorties, go long tubes or stock.

ok, now for the do's:
1. get the biggest frame ties you can!
2. get a cat-back (either 3 or 3.5 inches, no more)
3. SLP air lid
4. drag radials
5. better shifter (manual)
6. gears: 4.10 for manual 3.73 for automatic
7. long tubes
8. go ahead and get a 3,300 torque converter (thats the biggest you can run without messin with the comp.
9. power adder (TC, SC, N2O)
10. 12-bolt rear

Do THOSE, not exactly in that order, but those are your best bets to pick up some speed. Hope it helps, later
