86 IROC vs 84 Z28, who's gonna win?
Friend from work just got his 84 Z runnin again. His tranny (700R4) went out and he got it rebuilt with a TCI shift kit in it. Other than that he's all stock. He's got a 305 H.O. My mods are in my sig. I'm pretty sure I got the win easy, but a few of my other friends think it'll be close.

Tough call. I had an 84 HO 5spd and when my buddy bought a brand new 87 350 IROC, I used to beat him. I had a chip, 160 thermo, K&N, advanced the timing to 14 degrees, no cat, and took the charcoal ring out of the air filter housing.
Once he put a chip in and thermostat, it was whoever hit it first would stay there. It wasn't until he did the exhaust that he really started pulling on me.
Sorry for so long, should be a good race though.

the 86 Iroc's got crappy cams, and you both have the same power but I believe his 3.73's will help him alot with a 5 speed, i think whoever can hook up better will take it, both cars are probably mid to mid high15's - AARON

how are ya'll gettin a 5-speed? he CLEARLY said his tranny (700R4) went out and it was rebuilt with a TCI shift kit in it...i think the TPI is gonna own because of the TPI's low end torquiness. gotta love that long-tube runner design for low end torque...

i say first one out of the hole will win. but i give the edge to you with the TPI. do the TB Bypass and you'll pick up a few more ponies. with all the mods you have the only ones that will really be effective is 3.23 Posi, Ported Plenum, Gutted Airboxs, Summit Exhaust Cut-out. the suspension mods won't do nothing in a drag race till you start getting up in hp. 100 or so hp and those mods will be effective. as of now you got that part taken care of it looks like!
launch and let the torque do it for you! with your 3.23 posi you should edge him out especially if he has a 2.73 rear.
good luck and let us know!

Well my tranny was just rebuilt 3000 miles ago, but no shift kit or stall.
