1992 Z-28 vs. 240SX
I never took my car to the track but today I raced a Nissan 240SX unknown year, with fartcan and a stick. Thats about basically all I could tell. I dropped back a fender for like 5 feet than blew a car length before I even shifted out of 1'st. I've also raced a 1995 probe with intake and fartcan manual 2, beat 2 car lenghts to 60. Another car I raced was a 1987 305 tpi auto with cold air, full dynomax cat-back exhaust. got em by a fender to 85. Just thought I'd post my kills. By the way I have a 1992 Z28 305 tpi LB9 auto bone stock. What time should I expect? I think 15.5 whats ur opinion?

240sx's are SLOW. i raced a turboed one at the track last year... kid was all cocky and had a sticker on his rear window that read: "SURGEON GENERALS WARNING ITS OK TO SMOKE V8s". after seeing that i had to line up with him. i got in line behind him, and it turned out we would be running each other. i staged to 1000rpms and waited... yellow, yellow, yellow, GREEN! i put a 1.8 60ft on him and went on to smoke HIS a$$. he ran a 13.8 to my 13.2. wheres that sticker now

My friend had a 92 z with a 305 auto and last year before he sold it I think he ran a 15.1 bone stock.I dont know what gears he had though,so for you it could be different. They make a 6 cylinder 240sx dont they? I could have sworn a guy I went to school with had one , he claimed it was fast but hes an *** hole so I dont believe him . Oh well you take the wins you can get.

That all depends on your options. What gear do you have and do you have the G92 dual muffler option? That can be good for a few tenths sometimes. Even without the G92, I think you are about right on the times. Also, mileage is a factor. How many you got? The best way to find out is to get to the track. Let us know what you run.

Tuned right those 240s are evil. The stock four banger in there isn't much of a threat unless truly built up or with a proper turbo added. Look out for SR20 engine conversions those little engines are easily modified and reliable. 240's aren't bad cars at all, they're rear wheel drive and have good handling, but American versios got gipped in the engine department. They're not wannabe sports cars at all like the souped up civics, they're real sports cars with a large aftermarket. Now a days its not uncommon to see the SR20 engine swap so just look out, not all of them suck. My friend is currently doing the swap. Nevertheless nice runs

Nice kills! I say you should run around 15.0, give or take a tenth.
A buddy of mine just finished swapping a S13 SR20 into his 240. Stock engine swap, no mods. Little car is pretty quick, we're thinking it should do low 14's and maybe break into the 13's if he can drive. I'll probably be running him soon, we'll see what he's got for me.

No my car is not a G92 it is a automatic with 85,000 miles on it. But I still beat my friend who ran a 15.7. From 10mph roll I got em by a fender and he can't start for ****. I'm thinkin mid 15's if cold out lower 15's but I don't plan on anything to close to the 14's. A 15.2 If my car wants to do it. My reaction time is never more than .8 and I never spin off the line. What are 1992 305 Z-28 auto's supposed to run?

well I ran my 91 gta at the track last night and posted some pretty lousy times, I ran a 16.655 best time, but I just got my car and it has stock exhaust, the temp was around 225 the whole time I ran, and I was getting no traction at all, but I have had people tell me that I can be expecting mid 15's if everything goes my way.

After an engine swap, anything can be fast. The 240SX is basically an Americanized Silvia right? Is the SR20 a Jap only motor? You're right, they are cooler than front drive econoboxes.
And no, they only came with 4 cylinders. To get a V6, you had to get a 300ZX.

I'd love to have an SR20DET powered 240SX. You can find them with blown motors around here for 400 - 600 all day long and the motor swap will only run a couple grand. I have a friend with one running 13.30's on true street tires. Pretty impressive IMO.

91gtatpi, what was your mph on your run? I have a buddy with an 89 LX Mustang, and he would run 16 flat at like 90 mph, damn wheelspin.
