305 TPI vs. ????

Yeah...other then whipping my buddy in a 0-60 run in my TA (he has a 03 Mustang GT, and drives it like an old woman) I have never raced...prob won't ever but just want to have some idea of what I could do...I have an 87 TA with a 305 TPI with and auto...I've added a flowmaster 80 and 2.5 inch pipes, and still have my crappy cat....the rest of the car is stock. My parents would kill me if they found out that I raced someone and all the cops know me in this little prep town. But...what cars could i take with what I have? Thanks...

I would say anything that runs high 15's on. I believe your car would have somewhere around 220 hp, correct me if I'm wrong, so that torque should enable you to take most of the common import tuner (or stock civic w/a performance exhaust, and an un- matching wing), unless they have the big bucks to spend.
wow, impressive beating an 03' GT, I thought they could run low 14's. But I guess thats what could happen if you're not a good driver. If you're on the street, those highway runs against new cars can be fustrating, somehow they seem to get that top end against mostly stock/stock thirdgens. But hey you should be able to put up good runs against a whole assortment of newer cars, except supra, turbo'd eclipse, evo's, ya know the kinda of expensive import.oh yeah, you would probably not beat the LS1's, LT1's, those cobra, roush, saleen, mustangs, but I'm sure you knew that having a domestic V-8.

Do you plan to do any modifications to the car(besides a flow)?

I'm sure other people have better opinions, but I guess it's an idea.

Your probably looking at mid to low 15's like GTA_fan said, depending on your gears. If you get headers and a high flow cat or ditch the cat youll see a big difference also. If you get headers and the cat,a CAI,and between a 3.42 and 3.73 gear you could easily break mid to high 14's. Good luck.

you got 190 hp and 295 tourque
i would say your car would be high 15 seconds

you want your car to move well change the cam on it and put some headers

you will see over a second drop on those times

high 15's eh?

<----- 15.3 @92mph with a 2.1 60'.... that was on a hot day with temps reaching and climbing over 220*. Plenum was so dam hot, it melted the ice in the bag in the matter of 10-15 mins...

You can take on most if not all imports depending on driver. But in that case, you could beat anyboy depending on the driver.
List I have beaten would include RSX, RSX-S, Eclipse(other then turbo), Integra, civic, prelude, ... list goes on. As long as there is not spray or other power adder, then you should be fine. Tell that guy with the stang to get a civic.

i have an 89 iroc 305 tpi auto with 2.73's. completely stock best runs in the 15.3's. it had 195/295 (hp/torque). with a ramjet 350 cam, headers, hooker cat back, some free mods, and a semi ported plenum, it's in the 14.5's still with the 2.73's. with 3.42's, i managed a 14.18 @ 97 mph with a 2.08 60 ft. with a 2200-2400 stall, i got it down to my goal of 13.87 @ 100.4 (also added airfoil in too if that makes any difference). in my town, it'll hang with most new Z28's and trans ams and even managed to pick up a 2000 vette (auto with 2.73's). ov=f course it'll beat most all mustangs (asuming stock Gt's, older svt's, etc.) and other than a few **** rockets like the evo 8 and the wrx, no **** will touch it. closest thing **** to me was a awd turbo 5 spd eclipse which was with me out of the hole. I'm assuming the car wasn't stock. if u7 need any 305 mods help, ask me amn. I've done or tried it all (at least what i could afford to). hope it helps some. c ya
