Should I worry w/ a civic???

A co-worker has a supercharged si civic... when it was n/a it ran low 15's. He is talking tons of trash about being able to smoke my gta...
Should I worry?
I've got an 89 GTA 350, ported/polished stock heads, 1.6 rr's, mild crane cam, bbk 52m throttle body, cold air, accel runners, and hooker long tubes to glass packs. All emmisions and a/c deleted, fiberglass hood. Everything else is stock...
Should I worry, do I need drag radials (i'd like to smoke him on street tires)... Do i need to buy a "chip?"

that civic should be close to low 14s now, and you should be in mid 13s most likely, drag radials would be nice on the street especially if u have some time to warm them up before the race.

i think you should win.

You should always go to the track "fearless". Why put doubt into your own head. Goodluck.

civic si in the low 15's if he was stock sounds like a decent driver
so low 14's is prolly where I would put him if that is all he really did

more en likely if you can drive it will be close but nod going to you I would say

60 ft. and trap speed are all that matter in a street race really. get drag radials or ET streets, hook like a **** and never look back. supercharged hondas are usually slower than the turbo ones, and most turbo ones are running low 14s if that. you'll spank him with that setup, but don't think there is some prize gained for beating a car on street tires. street tires are just for that, daily driving, no sense in ruining your 60ft. and burning up tires you need to keep for every day driving. I have a pair of ET Streets on some spare IROC wheels I keep just for racing (street or track).

how streetable does this Honda look? I know one guy the runs 10.9x in a crx that is borderline streetable. and another with a home built turbo kit that runs 13.0 with a 1.7 60' that looks stock! Not lowered, no exaust, no wheels, no body kit, just a boost guage.

but Black363IROCZ is right the supercharged ones usually and not faster than 13.50's

Just drive the **** outa your car and have fun. You might get somemore incintive to mod your car.

I totally agree. It's all about the attitude. Have enough to where you kinda get him nervous enough to where he drives like a shmuck, but don't talk enough trash to where you're cocky. Just go out there and have fun and try to make some cash doing it.

Oh, and don't forget to post the results....

With traction it shouldnt be any contest. Unless he's leaving mods out of your conversations.

A friend of mine has an Accord with the prelude motor swap, turbo and 8psi boost, his best run was 14.2. Given the civics are lighter but there motors have less HP then them B22 what evers do.

Ya its a V-tec, he said he was having problems with the V-Tec part of a V-tec (he totaly lost me) but his best run was a 14.2 and it was against me. lol He's a good guy though and doesnt trash talk so I dont mind him.

His brother though trash talks like no tomorow, claiming he could beat any stock 3rd gen, he has identical setup just minus the Turbo, so I made sure I laughed at him hard core with his 15.4 best My buddie whooped him in his Stock 90 Iroc 350 TPI running a 14.6. The dude tried making up an excuse about how his stereo was slowing him down (big box 2 twelves) till we pointed at Tims car (90 Iroc with four 15's two 10's four 8's 2800 watts and still has his back seats) then he shut up.

http://groups.msn.com/TDZandFriends/...ly90irocz.msnw

Still m8 I think your GTA should whoop him as long as he aint fibbing about his mod's.

Nothing like a bit of positive mental attitude!

Your car - 89 GTA 350, ported/polished stock heads, 1.6 rr's, mild crane cam, bbk 52m throttle body, cold air, accel runners, and hooker long tubes to glass packs. All emmisions and a/c deleted, fiberglass hood. - should beat him! Just go for it, you're probably capable of mid-1's with your set-up! If you lose, so what, go home buy a 100bhp-nitrous kit and go race him (smoke him) again!

a prelude vtec is a 2.2 dohc (h22a) and it sounds like this guy with the civic can drive but with your setup id bet on you for the win.

Whats wrong with Civics?????? Anyways. Honda Civic si's are usually 1.6L. They usually have around 130-160hp. Now you said he has a 'supercharged' civic, then he would have around 180+ hp. But it all depends on what he has in there. And no, Preludes are 2.2L (H22A), and Prelude Si's are 2.3L. The 1.8L belongs to the Acura Integra. But i would remind you, your car is wayyyyy heavier than this civic, along with your heavier motor. This guy is almost 1/2 your weight with decent amount of hp. So he might get you at the start.

so ur calling me a homosexual? cuz i own one. there is NOTHING wrong with civics. i dont wanna get into this import vs. domestic bussiness, but there is ALOT more things you can do to a civic and make them alot faster than camaros and firebirds. im not trying to diss on domestics, so chill out on the civic thing.

Its not about imports vs domestics, civics are such feminine cars... its sibling the integra looks so much better anyway...

if you can make a 'civic' so much faster than a camaro and firebird then why do all the pro mod cars and top alcohol cars still run v8's and not 4 cylinder motors? You put 5k into a civic and give me 5k and i'll be laughing when your 20 car lengths behind me
