How fast are the mid 90's M3's????
A friend of mine just bought a 96' M3 with low mileage for a ton of cash. He thinks it's really fast
. He actually wants to race me in my Trans Am. LOL!!!!! All my friends tell him he's nuts. He asked me the other day to race and I asked him " What for??"
I went for a ride in it and was not impressed with it, but the fact that it's a 6 cylinder is cool.
I hear they run mid 14's is that about right???
I just want to know how many car lengths I can give him at the start and not wind up losing.

I believe these had 240hp unless my memory fails me. I bootkicked one pretty hard with my Z from like a 40 mph roll, nothing fancy. What are you packin', a 330hp Vortec HO? You'll whoop him good... Now the newer 330hp M3 models run pretty hard from what I understand, low 13s supposedly...

The Vortec headed motor from the Rs is out and sold. Got $1,000 for it. A mean 355 is on the way.
I raced one of them a while back...it was a really close race because I didnt know we were racing until about 15 and I was stuck in 2nd. Dude still couldn't keep up even though he was trying as hard as he could...and I dont think his car was stock, had some rims and a loud exhaust. So Id give him about a car off the line and then embarras him...let him think hes winning and come walkin past when he shifts. oh and btw watch out if hes got even a few mods, ive seen a few bolt-ons running in the low 13s even high12s at the track..

A stock e36 m3 will beat a stock GTA easy........Stock the m3 has 321hp.... here in europe anyway (high 13 car stock) With my mods i can run almost even with them.......
But they have the adventage
Newer car
Six speed
lighter
more hp
so think our cars are pretty good.........

Faster than high 13's, low 13's and a possible high12 from a factory freak.

In the mid 90s (97?) I read a Motor Trend, Car and Driver or Road and Track ( can't remember). They voted the M3 best handling car in the world. !!! Not sure if I agree there but I'd drive one. I think they ran a 0-60 in the low 6s and a mid 14 quarter. The new ones are about 4.8 0-60 and low 13s quarter.
