350 Camaro vs. LS1 Corvette
I wanted to know if you guys think that I could beat an LS1 Corvette. I Think I could beat an automatic one since I am running dead even with a 6-sp 2002 SS Camaro and I can beat a 2001 Camaro Z28 with slp exhaust. What do you guys think?
I'm gonna have to say no leaning towards a very close race. I can beat LS1 F-bodies but I've only run 1 vette at the track, no information on it, and he beat me by a few lengths. All my info is in the sig. If you are dead even with F-bodies, I think he'll edge you out at the top end.

They are a lot quicker because of how light they are. Compaird to LS1 fbodies that is. GM high tech took a bone stock LS1 vette (not a Z06) hardtop and clocked off a 12.7. If you go against a good driver you are going to have to beat 12.7 or so.

I think you have a chance....I have never lost to a stock or "bolt on" C-5....my car goes 12.8@110mph.....raced one with a cam and bolt ons and he DESTROYED me
One of my buds has one it goes low 13's@106ish (can't remember)...unless you have a legit 11sec Z give it 100% and you should have a close race....the faster you go the better the C-5 seems to go..

I dunno. LS-1 vettes seem to put about the same Hp to the wheels as an F-body, despite their "on paper" HP advantage. My personal belief is that the motor DOES make more power at the flywheel but the extra extra universal joints and such in their more complicated rear suspension "eat" that extra HP.
Despite that, they are (usually) lighter than an F-body depending on options and they slice through the air like a bullet at high speeds thanks to much better aerodynamics.
My expereince is similar to POS's- the faster you go, the better they seem to do.
Kill him off the line and hopefully he won't run you down up top. Z-06 Vette is a different story- they'll kill any stock LS-1 F-body from any speed so they'll probably kill you too.

I know that a Z06 would take me. An LS1 guy at the track told me that his motor put 340 hp at the flywheel stock and that it had about 295-300 at the wheels with an automatic! I can always KILL the LS1's off the line (even modded ones) but they always seem to catch up some by 110. I wonder how quick the C5's are off the line. None ever go to our track so I can't get a good idea. I spin on the street with 255 rear's off the line so I think that it could go either way depending on how fast we raced to.
Thanks for the input, keep it coming.

if your running 12.8's at 110 mph you got them covered! i've ran one on the street from 60 - 120 and i beat him by 3 cars lengths. i've ran a Z06 from 60-120 and he beat me by 3 car lengths. just don't run them over 120 mph and you should be fine. granted these races of mine were in my 87 vette
