89 5.7 IROC w/ bolt-ons vs. civic si VTEC
im going into the marines after school gets out this year, and a recruiter i know has a civic si VTEC. you know, the ones that sort of look like station wagons. well I told him that (mistake) and now he wants to run my 89 iroc.
now i have absolutely no idea what the vtec is capable of so if you could shed some light on it.
btw. my roc has k&n's, gutted air box, flowmaster 80 series cat-back, hypertech theromaster chip.

Unless two of your plug wires are cut in half and you give him a 3 car lead, you should rape him. Most decent drivers are getting mid to low 15's tops out of the new si's and if he can't drive then he might be seeing mid to high 15's maybe even 16's. Now at a roll, he may have you on the upper end, but doubtful. Just don't spin off the line and watch him dissapear in the mirrors.

when you guys are ready to race at least be nice and try to hitch his car to yours and just tow him for the race
that way he might know what it is like to go somewhat fast being that his car isn't fast at all unless there is something he isn't telling us

Car: for now i have a 79 firebird that had a toasted 301 (imagine that!)
Engine: well i *had* a 301, but there is a pontiac 350 on the stand to get me on the road again and a 428 after that :D
Transmission: th350
yeah, beware and don't underestimate.... last time iunderestimated a little red rx7 he smoked my a<x>ss
anyhow i think you need to make real sure that he hasn't done anything to it even if you liik at stock vs stock times, that doesn't mean a whole lot....

#2 dont worry about it. You should have him by a titantic length. Most 350's on here with bolt ons i see run mid-low14's and I dont know how good of a driver you are, so ill say high 14's. The Civic probably runs mid to high 15's. He probably doesnt have spray so i wouldnt be too worried about that.

When I went to OSW last month, the fastest 03 Civic Si run was a 15.9. All younger guys and they were slow. I was un-impressed with them. The 99-02 Civic Si's were faster, or at least at the track that night.
You know what you should do, slam it off the line and then shut down for about 1 second (just to screw with him) and then punch it again and just lose him. DOHC iVCRAP.

If he's THAT petty to make your enlistment Hell if you smoke him, then he isn't worth his salt. He want's a challenge, let him have one. He loses, too bad, so sad. If you really want to make him mad, after you beat him, tell him you're going to join the Army instead, then he'll go balistic...

Dude, he is just a recruiter. After you sign you name and hit that plane to boot you will never see him again. May as well make it a memorable experience for both. Hand him his ***, and say "G0d bless America" afterwards.

What he said, and recruiters have about as much clout as a used car salesman. I'm not saying I don't appreciate recruiters, they just don't have the clout they say they do. Thread
