Ahhh, my first full night of racing on my new Formula......

First race was an '80s 5.0. Spanked by like 2 cars from 20mph (best speed for me imo). Then we went from 40 and I only got him by about half a car. He was pissed, to say the least (BTW his was NOT stock).

Second race was a GTP. Smoked me. Period. Took me by at least 4 cars at the end of 3rd, from 20mph.

Third was a '96 Impala SS. At first he wouldn't have it. He was all high and mighty about his beloved Corvette motor and ish....I told him why don't you test out your 'vette mototr against my stock little 350.....? He took the bait and we rolled from about 30mph (bad for me = very end of 1st). He hung with me until middle of 2nd then I started pulling forward to about car and a half by the end of 3rd. He was also pissed, to say the least. How mush do those Impalas weigh? Gotta be a ton......

Fourth up for grabs was a Probe GT with a few mods (now a friend of mine). First from from a stop light...he bogged the launch and I got him by too many cars. Then we raced from about 40mph, took him by 2 or 3 cars by the end of 3rd gear. Then I slowed to 20mph (again, my best speed IMO) and got about 1 car behind him. We started off and the good ole TPI wasted no time in wasting him. Again. And again, and again, and about 5 more times.

Next was a black '96 or so Civic hatch with mucho mods. He was pretty quick, but not quick enough. Took him by a clean car from 40, 2 cars from 20, and 1.5 cars from a stop.

Next was a very old (and crappy) RX-7. Not even worth telling. He was long gone.

Now we get to the serious races....f-bods

Pulled up next to a guy in an '88 IROC...he wanted it, and bad. So I take him from 20mph and get him by little over a car. He was cool and wanted to run from 35 (worst place = end of 1st or beginning of 2nd). I told him allright, but he might get me. Wrong. Took him with the same result. Then I let my friend drive (big guy) and race him from a stop. Driver, me, and another large friend of mine were in the car, totalling probably 650lbs. Even still took him cleanly by about 1/2 a car. Anyway, he motioned to follow him...took me to a place on the 'strip' where a bunch of 3rd gen Camaros hang out (score!). He said his car was like the 3rd fastest out of 15 or so cars...also said he's raced plenty of 350s and won (maybe mine is special? lol....). A couple guys there raced (IROC and a Z), with me behind trailing....I had to let off to avoid a collision!

Anyway, it was a fun night. Maybe next weekend I'll have some more kills. Kills = 10 Losses = 1.

I don't know what to tell you man but in my stock L98, my best speeds for racing is either a stop, 35mph (2nd gear), or 70mph (3rd gear)... from 35mph it just takes off like a bat out of hell (for what it is atleast). Do you have different gears maybe? Nice kills btw.

huh? the Impala SS in the mid 90s did not come with a Vette motor. it was a LT1 yes, but it was not the same engine that was installed in the late C4s.

there was a different air induction system, a smaller mass air meter, different ECU, different exhaust system, and the biggest difference: the Impalas got cast iron heads while the Vettes and Fbodies got aluminum ones

the hp ratings differed as well:

Impala - 260
Corvette - 300

Hmm that's strange. 20mph is right in the sweet spot in 1st for me...hell I can chirp the tires sometimes taking off there... From 35 it just seems sluggish....right at the beginning on 2nd. Only thing I'm positive on is it has 3.23 gears in the ***.

Yeah, everyone cruises a single street within a 2-mile strip. Plus I know of a few backstreets where a lot of races happen.

Hmmm also strange. Pulled up next to him and gave him a quick glance. He rolled down his window and yelled "Not even worth the gas! Vette motor!" and points to his engine. Maybe he was full of sht, or maybe he was just clueless. It sounded stock, so idk.

Thanks for the praises, all!

I love it when they say that, "not even worth the gas..." what the heck is THAT about?!? It's ALWAYS worth the gas! If you lose it's a learning experience, if you brag and lose, you're a b**ch. I'd race a superior car with mine...IT'S FUN, even if you lose. I've beat a few V8's (slow ones apparently, lol) I raced a ws6 and got spanked, but at least the guy din't laugh when I told him all I had was a 6-Respect who you drag with until they disrespect YOU, then...
