01 cobra vs 89 gta?????????????

01 cobra vs 89 gta?????????????

i raced an 01 cobra last night on a back road,the guy said it was stock just headers an x pipe,my ta runs 8.2 at 90mph in the 1/8,this cobra pulled me out of the hole by 1 car ,it took me till the end of 4th gear to to make up for the car that he put on me,the car sounded mosty stock,after the race i looked under the hood,no charger or juice,what the hell do you think going on with that????????????????

Did you use the spray on him or not? I've personally seen an '01 Cobra run a 13.53 at the track stock. If you sprayed and he's done a few mods to it, but it's not impossible to run 12.70's matching your GTA et's. There are more than a few stock-looking 5.0 Mustangs running those numbers. You should've had him out of the hole. Did you stay door handle to door handle or win the race?

hmmm,somebody has a bottle,if you would have said a gt with a few mods i could see it happening but a cobra you were sprayin,i mean i dont know the mods you have as well as gear ratio but if you had to run through 4th the 1/4 was way over....

i have 4.10 gears,and this is not a tpi car, built old school 355ci,i never did pass him,and i dont now if it was 1/4 mile we raced.we did it on a old back road,late last night,all my et,s are all motor,i had the street tires on and he had nittos

i shift in to fouth gear right before the end of the 1/8 mile,and shift into 5th right before the end of 1/4

WHAAATTT, that sux. I run my car 3/4 of the way trhough 4th, but would never go into 5th. Time for a gear swap again.

what sucks about it its geared for the 1/4 mile shift at 6500 rpm

I heard an x-pipe can free up alot of hp on a stang I have a friend with a 97 and he said it had 6 cats plus don't the cobras have like 320hp from the factory I don't know how built your motor is but if its in the same range as a cobra he just ma have told a blue lie

the guy with the cobra lied,or the speed shop that built the botom end,cause my car runs 8.2 in the 1/8at 90 mph,the o3 corbra traps like 88,

A 8.2 @ 90 mph would be about a 12.75 @ 113 mph on a 1/4-mile track. The '01 Cobra would ONLY need 4.10 gears, full length headers, a X-pipe and a pair of BFG or Nitto drag radials to run 12.70s. The '03 Cobras can run the 12.80's BONE STOCK. Ford made sure the '01 made all the power they advertised (320 hp), the '03 would beat the LS1 cars and they would not ever have a repeat like the '99 Cobra Disaster.

The Cobras have 4 cats, so yes an off road will help a lot. And 12.7s arent too difficlut, and for an 03 Cobra a stock one, or one with a catback should be right in the 12.7 range.
