Those things have about 295 HP I think. I raced a newer silverado at the track and he went 15.62 @ 88 mph. Not sure of the HP of those though, guessing 275. So yeah, sounds right if you have a stock 305.

well if it was "mean sounding" he probably wasn't stock, go figure. so who knows what he had, hell for all you know he wasn't N/A. unlikely, but a possibility none the less. if he had headers, full exhaust, KNFIPK, and a chip, then it's definetly believable, even with headers and full exhaust i think it's believable, i know how slow my TBI is...

Yeah those trucks are alright to be so big, I talked to a guy at our local track about his, it has a 5.3 liter 327 in it, and his best run of the night was a 15.9, so yeah for a truck, pretty quick.

There are a series of the new LS1 engine for the trucks. 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0. It was most likely the 6.0 which makes 345hp. Sure trucks are heavy but that 6.0 is a really nice motor. My geuss is that you ran into one of those 6.0's judging by the Z71 package. The 5.3L isn't much of a threat in stock form and the 4.8 is hard to find. Heck, it could have even been the 8.2L monster that you can now get. Only makes about 300hp but makes about 400lb ft and I am sure the power curve is flatter than kansas.

Oh ya 3504mula, a friend of mine has a 12second 5.3, but then again, linginfelter does nice work. Sorry, off topic, just had to throw that out there.

My best friend recently bought a 2003 Silverado extra cab with the 5.3 It will outrun most r1ce around here, and the occassional older model Camaro/Mustang. It was enough to take out a 87 305TPI 5 speed car, so... He hasn't run it yet but I'd bet money it's a low 15 second truck even with him driving.

The 5.3 does make 290HP. Most Z71 trucks came with the 5.3.

Well then I take that back. I can't believe that he took out a 305 TPI 5 speed. That is pretty impressive. I know the r*ce isn't a match but I don't even consider those cars. Everything I have read said that they weren't any threat. Than again those were on LT1 and LS1 forums Cool truck!

Why'd you think i want that truck shifty? gotta be fast!!!

And 14.9 Stock out of a N/A truck is nothin to mess with... those are some very impressive numbers, hell my L03 probably isn't anywhere near that...

I really had no idea that those 5.3's could run that fast. I would have believed high 16's but not low 15's. That is really moving for a 4500lb truck.

My thoughts were exactly the same, until I rode in it. Then I convinced him to try a run a few cars on the street. I was impressed. He probably has 3.73 or 4.10 gears in it, which I'm sure help out.
