hemi
i was coming home from work in which the boss/surrounding people at my shop really pissed me off... on my way home (at night) there was nothing but headlights of course high beams on my tail... so 55 is the speed limit, i slowed all the way down to 20, he started to pass me and I let his headlights get to about my rear tire and I throw my hog in 2nd and gun it... i am flying and i look back to see if he was behind me and he was already at the front of my car... i look down and my needle is buried (85 mph speedo) and he is gone... i seen it was a dodge and a newer one so i only have the believe it was one with the hemi in it
anyone else has any expierences with those? i got my as$ handed to me in a silver platter which made my already crap day even worse.. My car has everything in the sig but was running on a blown power valve (bad miss) but still

The new Hemis are DAWGS!!!! That dude must have had something on it...I ran one with my Formula (350 HO Crate w/TPI) and I absolutely smoked him......
Looks like (judging by your sig) you have a pretty strong car. Imagine a blower on top of that monster. That is probably what he had!!!

Hemi's are way overrated...
I posted this on the Regal board last month...
Hey guys, I have not posted anything in a while, but I thought y'all might enjoy this...
I was on the way to take my girlfriend home, when I got stopped at a redlight next to QuikTrip. I hear a squeal, and see a truck in my rear view mirror nascar-ing it's way out of QT like he just got done with a pit stop, and he pulls up beside me...
I glance over to see what kind of truck it was and it turns out to be a four door Dodge. The guy looked to be around my age, but obviously had never moved on from the maturity level he had in high school. He had his windows half way down, and music blaring, which would have been fine except that it was about 40* out last night...
Anyhow, he ends up looking over at me with his chin up in the air and a cigarette in his mouth, as if to say "see my 10" x 10" HEMI badge on the fender, that means I can beat anything just like on the commercials"...My girlfriend and I just look at eachother, like "what a dork", and I ease forward to foreshadow the buttkicking he was about to get...
The light turns green and I let him get about a carlength before I floor it. It took me about 2 and a half seconds to go by him (of course with a friendly good bye) and walk about 3-4 carlengths on him before I let off for the redlight ahead.
Poor guy had to pull up next to me with what I thought would be his tail between his legs, but he retained the same look as before as if he had a chance if he tried a little harder. This time he is staring at the light with his motor revved up a little, so I turned performance shift on and tell my girlfriend "uh oh" and roll my eyes. I didn't give him any headstart or mercy this time. I did an all out "track launch" and left him hard through the intersection and when I looked back at about 80 mph, he was about 6-7 carlengths behind, where he then decided to flash his bright lights at me in an obviously great amount of frustration. I told my girlfriend, "well, he got me back I guess", and continue to take her home with a big smile on my face.
I seriously thought he would have kept up better than he did, but I just read a Car and Driver write up on one of those. It says it runs 16.1 which is about right if I pulled that much on him with a passenger with me. Am I the only one that gets annoyed by the Hemi commercials? Just wondering.

not many cars around here beats me and i've had my fair share of street races but i didnt hear any type of wind like a supercharger would make.. I dont know, i always thought hemis were machines sent to destroy small block chevys
i'm glad to read a few people roasted some hemis, I just hope that i didnt get beat by a stock dodge with a v6

it was for sure 100% no questions asked a dodge.
one of them ran my brother off the road when he had his old firebird... everytime one would go by he'd point it out n cuss at it so i for sure know what they look like from head to toe.
a ford lighting wasnt even introduced when this happened anyway i dont think.. this was quite a bit of time ago

maybe it was a Dakota R/T with the 5.9 liter in it. those things with some bolt on's can be quick trucks, now weather it would take u or not... but that's just my thoughts if u are sure it was a dodge.

switch your air freshener to a more extreme flavor, like pineapple, or crazy cherry, something with 1 long name or 2 names. will definetely increase your power

If its an 02 dakot rt it would be good (assuming a regular cab shortbed) for a nice mid 14 second 1/4. A friend of mine has one like that and has run it a few times and, with massive traction issues due to a lack of rubber, he is managing high 14's. (by traction issues i mean the second gear shift will send him sideways at wot if he isn't careful) With your setup though it would have to be a modified R/T though to hang i would think.

i know that i was flying and the dodge beat me... i couldnt look at it for to long so see any type of embles but I know the dodge taillights =[
they had the lil ugly dodge symbol of that bull... who knows, maybe it had a turbo bolted on or something...
my air freshner is in need of replacement, hopefully it will give me the extra boost in the low end torque range
oh well, i'm convinced that it was something way more than a hemi or a regular engine taht it had to be some sort of mods on it..
thanks for the peace of mind =]

HEMI HATERS
Damn guys go easy on my truck..
. I own a 2003 Hemi ram 4-door..and I might add it is a very nice truck. A 1/4 monster? Hell no!! 345 horsepower is nothing to sneeze at though. The truck was not built for drag racing..but man you have alot of potential there. single cab with the Hemi and a few mods..would be a pretty quick truck..would guess that wheelspin would be a major issue. I guess the commercials give Ram owners the "I own a Hemi beware" syndrome..
..Great for towing and hauling the family around...Later

Well, it is possible, as i have had it confirmed on other boards i visit, that you could have been roasted by an SRT-10. A few guys have spotted them on the roads and one guy saw one on a dealer showroom floor, already sold of corse. So, more than likely if it was big, a dodge, and left you like a chump, well thats a pretty good suspect.

i was cruisin down the interstate one day when one of those trucks pulled up beside me. the roll cage x in the back window of my car really made people want to race me. so, i was like, alright....i let him get up there in front of me alittle bit, then dropped the hammer and flew by him like he was standing still. my little 305 did not play! too bad i wrecked the car the day after christmas. i plan to put the motor and tranny and rear i a new camaro, once i get it. just don't know when that will be.

It's a goat. Not a bull. That's why the religous right does not like dodge. Satanic symbols on thier products.....
Hemi= He Envys My Inline 6.............. JK
The hemi is indeed a very good engine (cylinder head) design. Now, let's talk them into putting one in the Crossfire.......

Yeah, for all the hype, I was expecting more from the Crossfire. But, just as they did with the prowler, they made a pretty cool car, and put a whimpy V-6 in it.......
Forced induction would be a good way to wake that one up. I am sure the aftermarket will step in here and come up with something, IF Chrysler sells enough of them..........

HEMI's a joke??? I own a '04 Ram 2wd SB w/HEMI.....from a dead stop a strong running TPI car will beat me....from a roll...20mph and up the TPI car will be in trouble...the Hemi is throttle by wire...when you floor it from a stop the 'puter doesn't give it 100%...the tranny can sense loads on the truck and holds some back....these are the fastest trucks you can buy for under 30K if you get the sb 2wd like I did and when hypertech figures out how to outsmart the 'puter the full potential of the Hemi will be realized...regardless the big Hemi with posi can still turn over the big 20's......most of the Hemis on the road are the heavier 4 door 4wd models one like mine did 15.1 C/D @89mph...those are TPI numbers....remember this is a freaking truck we're talking about
PS I bought it because my Dakota had a hard time towing my Iroc

Well since the crossfire is built on the Mercedes SLK platform and has the same v6 (slightly detuned i believe, not sure) a supercharged version is very likely at somepoint. Guess Merc. forgot about that "our mercedes techknowledgy will not leak into the chrysler product range".
I dont know why yall are kidding yourselves. Yes the HEMI is a dog in a 4 door truck. Mine is a 2 door and it will dominate a lot of cars. The only fbody ive raced in it was a l98 gta. From the line we were pretty even until i hooked up and then began to walk away. i ran my brothers lightning and he beat it though, so its definetly not the fastest truck on the road. i have dominated ***** after ***** as well. My wife drives it to work everyday so i dont take it out much. It is a badass truck and dont take the 2 door ones lightly. A 4 door one shouldnt be too much trouble though. And to whoevers HEMI pulled power on the launch, i dont know what option you got, but mine just smokes the tires from stop or 5-10 roll. mine has 20" rims and a 3.93 rear. its a 2003 with about 6200 miles on it. i got my wife to race me in my T/A and it couldnt hang with the LS1.
I beat a new Hemi Ram this morning, I let him inch up about 1/2 car and he had exhaust.
I beat him in my 99 3800 II with !maf screen, Whisper lid and K&N drop in. Ohh, the 6 banger has 3.08 open rear and A4 tranny and I got a 15.8 out of it with a big headwind at BMP and 2.3 60'
It took me till 90 to edge him out but I barely did it..(getting in front of him) They HAVE to run 16s. If this was a 1/4 mile track race, I'd say they're pretty much even with the stock 3800 Fbodies.
That guy had some serious work done. I'm not impressed with those fugly *** trucks.

They are pretty quick for a truck. You can get a base 2 door, 4x2, short bed Ram with the hemi-magnum for under 21k according to dodge.com (with the incentive). That'd be pretty damn quick for the money. Too bad you can't get a manual yet.
I don't like the fact that you're forced into an (expensive!) automatic with the hemi. Plus, I'd get a long bed 4x4, otherwise that's the point of getting a truck? But that's okay, my firebird is the hotrod, the truck would be the off-roader!
I really want a hemi-magnum in my '69 dart! I'm trying to get ahold of a magnum 360 (5.9) for her right now. I guess I'll have to make the sacrifice since I can't afford a hemi!
Laters,
Scott
