i jsut got a 75 shot system hooked up today, if he lets me look under the hood and i see nothign out of the ordinary then we are goin race for 500 bucks cash, anyhting i should think abotu or remeber
okay, thats like saying to have a 500 dollar budget to make your car faster than his....if you spend less than 500 on mods, and win, then you can still make a few bucks, and better yet, be able to say you beat him.
-remove interior or some off it.remove s spare tire/jack...
-don't have a full tank of gas.
-remove air fillter, and posibly youi exhaust from the headers back, or from the cat back...
-put on the widest tires you can find around for cheap, and use low pressure.
-practice lauching
-remove what ever you can from the engine bay, as long as the car is still runnning.
thats some cheaper things you could try.

BAD idea.
you should be going to the track, learning to launch your car right and finding out whats fastest by doing lil things at a time..
running with low gas..... will you bog? what should the level be? you donno, because you havent found out out.
no air filter... theres a gain that wont make ya faster but puts the motor in danger... try using a clean PAPER one instead... if you just wet (oiled) your K&N filter, it flows worse then paper.. it has to dry out some before it flows good.
not all tires like "low" pressure... plus you could be changing the overall tire size.... what he wants is a good footprint and to know how it hooks..... that way, he knows how to launch it.
heres a better idea.
he approched you to run ya. hes a older guy who probly doesnt have anythign to prove by beating someone younger (im assuming you're younger since you called him a older guy)
id be wary of him. i wouldnt race him until i found out what he runs at the track on a full run. heh, or id atleast lower the bet amount to somthing you're not afraid to lose.
good advice for life: dont bet what you cant afford to lose.
your $500 you are betting him could be better spend on making your car faster.. then next time, when you're dialed in and know you are several seconds faster, THEN you race him. (or do what i do and spend more on your car and start over again

ummmm....
you prolly could have beat him fairly easily without the gas. If he's running stock exhaust, I imagine that he hasn't had ANY mods at all. I say race him again for his oval....

Congrats on the win......I too had...let me say that again HAD the NOS 75 shot system on my L98. I took every precaution known and I still melted a piston (Bottle pressure too high.....Hit it at night and could not see the gauge)....SO what I say to you is BE CAREFUL!!! When done right you can still F your motor up.
Anyways....I thought the 84 Mustangs were a carb'ed 302 with about 180 HP at the crank. I think you probably could have taken him without the juice. When you hit it.....What was the race status...even??? you up????him up????

WEll that is one reason why i would not race for slips.........look at my car.............nope not fast.......as a matter of fact, my daily driver is fast than my camaro.
And i know racing for slips has been around for a long time, but I have heard people asking to race for slips one too many times around these parts since that movie came out.

Do you have the LG4 or the 305 TPI? You definitely wouldn't need the NOS if he was stock and you have TPI. Good win though.

have a 3rd party hold both signed titles. even if the guy ditches, you take the title, goto the DMV and get your title for the car.
then you get the car any damn way you please. you legally own it. it doesnt matter who posses the car, you legaly own it at that point... if you wanted to, you could just report it stolen and wait for the police to catch the guy.

last 2 times i purchased a used car, i didnt have a bill of sale either.
i go down, get the title.. tell the how much i paid (for taxes)... pay them the extra $20 to have it printed right then.
then i go across the hall, and get it registered in my name.
at no point in time do i ever have to have the car in my possession, nor do i have to have much else other then the signed title.

umm. no. *shrug*
you have it legally titled in your name at that point...
he can have as many bills of sale, or duplicate titles or anything he wants.
the DMV now says, its in your name... and the only way hes getting it back is going to court...

Not if he reports it stolen, and it won't be hard to prove that considering he has a bill of sale while you neglected to "find" yours....Only sure fire way to get the slip is to put it in writing and have both parties sign on a contract. Only thing I can see with no loop hole involved.

I think its funny that nobody will race on a full tank of gas. This is when I get my best 60 foot times on radials!!! Think about it, an additional 10 gallons of fuel over the back tires @ approx. 7 lbs/gal is 70 pounds directly over the rear axle. Unless your car dead hooks from a stop, I would keep some fuel in the tank. 70 pounds in the 1/4 equates out to .05-.08 hundredths off your ET, whereas a tenth or two off your 60 foot can be good for .2-.3 tenths off your 1/4 mile time, which could make or break a race.

i screwed around with that and some other stuff.... its amazing the lil things you do when your car is slow as ***** and you want to just push it as far as it'll go...
i run my best 60' with the needle just the low side of the 3/4 mark.
