How about changing the title to, "Another reason to drive safely"?
The same thing could have happened with a speeder, two drivers talking to each other from car to car, a cell phone talker, just a bad driver, a drunk, a druggie...
Where's the relevance to JUST street racing?
Let's open BOTH eyes, and get down to the MAJOR issue: Pay attention, drive safely, and care about what you're doing OR DON'T DO IT.
That is absolutely horrible. And I get tired of people using other people's pain, grief, injury, or death as vendetta fodder.
*** be with them. *** be with us all. Everyone PLEASE be careful. It goes without saying with many people, but it doesn't hurt to say it again. Everyone take care of yourselves and anyone else you can as well.

This will get locked but:
How about street racing on a deserted street, if you must street race. All of that weaving in and out of traffic and racing on the freeway crap is insane

Oops, I made a new topic about this one already...
We have a track here, not to mention some nice barely-used roads if you GOTTA get your street-race thing on... I'm going to sleep at my Church tonight (better than having an alarm installed) and I know I'll hear a few races going on, at that exact same stretch of freeway. Funny, I only hear Import/sewer-pipe stuff, not big-cube domestic action...

OK street racing is not dangerous at all if you do it in the right place. And also dont be retarded and race up into speeds you cant control if its from a stop (only way a drag race should be) you shouldnt have to keep going anywhere past 100. Just make sure when you race you dont drive like most of the teens (yeah im 17) that drive their civics like theyre Mario Andretti and race without traffic all over the place not all street racing is a bad thing

One of my friends had the theory that one of the cars had Nitrous and that caused the initial fire. "Hey guys, let's spray NOS while cruzin on the freeway! NOS rocks!" They couldn't buy a clue if they won the Lottery.

I just hope in this incodent the drivers of the Vettes were the ones who died and not the driver of the truck. Its a shame when something like this happens, but you bring it upon yourself, so you have to suffer the consequences. Its just too bad others do to!

I agree with 25th, Street racing is always dangerous. Racing at the drag strip is still dangerous and your car can blow or whatnot. BUT, it is SO MUCH more safe at a dragway. I am not saying I have not raced on the street, I have.
About not wanting to see a timeslip, it is true because it is easy for people to believe your car is fast on the street:everyone thought mine was, but me.
I took my car to the dragway, and ran it. To everyones shock but mine and my dads, I ran a 16.5. I caught crap for only having a 16.5 second car for a short amount of time, until people realized that atleast I will do it at the dragway instead of the street.
Take care everyone and hope that made sense.

i know a bunch of people who have sub 12sec. cars proven at the track. that meet up and race each other on the street. not in crowded areas but deserted streets late at night... they do it as safe as they can.. the reason is not everyone wants to drive an hour to get a decent race.. at the track.. but silly sophmoric actions don't take place. most these people are 20s-50s

Hmmm different strokes for different fokes, I drive 2+ hours to the track and get my racing fill.
As long as noone gets hurt, noone innocent that is, its not a big deal, just immature!
