3rd Gen Formula vs. 2001 Honda Accord
I am coming off the I 10 ramp and I see this Honda come all up on my ****!!!! Light turns and I turn left to get on the four lane hwy. He gets on his car and passes me on the outside in the turn. Now this is the only time I see the rear of his car and he has the Euros and Buzz can. We are coming to a light that is red and I think " What the hell"....I drop it into 1st and creep up beside him. Light turns and we both kinda crawl out and then he nails it. I follow and hook like a **** (They got like 60 ft of Concrete after the light before it turns into asphualt) and instantly pull out ahead. I bark a second and continue to put about two buses on him. I slow to the speed limit as does he. He stays back behind me for awhile then he decides to slowly pass me. I look over at him and he just looks straight ahead like I am Johnny Law or something. Just a small kill in an otherwise average evening.

I guess he thought I was one of the "slow" third gens....
OOOOPS!!!!
I think the V6 version of that year has 200+ horses.....Faster than most 305 Third gens....He must have ran up against some other ones with a different result. Serves him right I think.....

Compared to most third gens, they are fast and getting faster all the time. New Accords 240HP.

Thats about how I feel. Although I won't sell it, I'll just spend more money on it. Its getting kinda rough though when every friggin cheapo family wagon is starting to be produced with some decent motor options. We haven't seen this type of attention to performance in the automotive industry since the sixties, so I guess its a good thing. Regardless they still have to spend over $20K to give us competition. If we put just $5K into our motors were right back on top competing with Cobras and Corvettes. Trending Topics

[POINT OF THIS THREAD]
sorry I feel the need to do this now since many of you fail to see the point others are trying to make so this part is here
age of the owner shouldn't a factor in the car and if the car is a carto go fast or what not
I know some old geezer in this are (prolly mid 70's) still drives around in a 6x camaro with a big block shoved under the hood
old enough to be my great grandfather so saying well my 53 year old grandma drives it as to make a point about how the car isn't a race car isn't a good way to make a point

if 20k is spent rightthat should land it more then just being competative that would land your **** on a silver platter to those that know what they are doing as well as quite a few cars on the road
not trying to start a flame fest here just don't see the point of exageration to this extent

What I said is "they", Being the ones buying the new Accord, TL's, SRT4s, whatever, cannot get into those cars without spending over 20K, we being third gen owners can put $5K into our motors and be able to compete with even new cobras and vettes, not to mention totally blowing away said Accords.

my mistake on what you where saying
I did read the whole thing over again though as you said
what I took it as was when you said it takes 20k to be competative with us was that after they bought the car it would take another 20k to be able to handle one of your cars
so next time maybe you should specify be it price of the car
or price of mods
just giving you crap
though man I see what you mean now

No problem Rx7speed, I guess I see how it could have been mis-interpreted, I give props to all cars that perform, I am not one of those blind third gen loyalist who thinks my 5.7 GTA is the quickest thing on the road, but its got great looks, and the ability to be anything I want to make of it. I guess that should be anything I can afford to make out of it
