ok my good ole 1st cousin has recently acquired a 1988 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. The motor is almost stock its got flomaster mufflers,a homemade cold air setup.I think these cars werent that slow from the get go.he wanted to know if i wanted to race him in my RS. I of course said i had to ask around first.

So what do you guys think??

1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe 0-60 8.5 1/4 16.3

thats off 87 bird turbo which can be the same #s like a 88... I believe they were 2.3s! Man those thunderbird turbos can smoke most of the V6 third gens.... And there only 4 cyl. Yeah overall ur V8 can manage it, but beware if the driver is a good shifter he can put up a challenge if he or she knows what there doin...

Goodluck! And tell us what happens

I had a 90 SuperCoupe for awhile.. it would smoke my L03 but it has a completely different engine and setup than the turbo, I believe the TC was pretty close in horsepower tho and a little lighter, should be a good race

what a TERD

we left from a stop light and i let him get a kick so he could get the turbo up a bit and soon as i nailed it i shot past him like he wasnt even moving i thought those things were faster than 5.0 stangs from the factory???? i think im gonna race him in my 2.8 Bird maybe he'll stand a better chance

haha good kill mate! Nothin better then killin some 4 banger FORDS, nah they werent as fast as the 5 Ohhhs... The 5.0 LX ran mid 14s in a 1/4 a thunderturd ran 16.3 or so.. which isnt bad for a 4 cyl. I deff felt that ucould kick his a$$ with ur V8... No offense idunno about ur V6 tho Have u had any mods done with the 2.8? Does that guys Turbo even boost good?

I knew you could win, do the math half a motor vs. a whole motor
