Accord kill By V6

Caught a light next to a light earlier. I didn't know he was there until he squealed his tires taking off (with another red light 70 yards away). I thought to myself, I guess he thinks I'm a racecar... SO I opened up the cut-outs at the light and shot a nice rev and then looked over and he nodded. Light went green, I spun and straight walked away from him. It was pathetic, I assume he had intake by the way his rev sounded, and it was slammed (no fartpipe, yay!). After I settled back down to the speed limit (about 9 cars up). He pulled in on me and got on it again, so I continued to embarass him (cut-outs closed this time). I put about 5 cars on him from a 45 mph roll to about 85. We came to a light again, he got beside me and I just smiled and said "V6 power baby!" He pointed and said VTEC, I just smiled and continued on my way. Fun run, I suppose it's always fun when you put that many cars on someone, at least he wasn't an uncle bens type of guy.

I went out sunday night after getting my car running and no one wanted a piece of me. I even had a dirty *** car, rs badges they see the drum breaks and worn seat. Everytime a ***** pulled up and gave me a nasty rev with thier fart cans, i'd give them some american muscle and they wouldn't want to race .

v-tec is variable valve timing. a couple of r***rs at school say you can feel the power pick up when it kicks in. But they all think that vtec motors are like these giant power houses but in stock form most are nothing to worry about, depending on year and make.

vtec isnt necessarily something to laugh at, its a genius design by the engineers at honda. basically at a certain rpm the lobes on the camshafts change and make the valves open up longer therefore giving more air causing more combustion/ power. vtec usually kicks in around 4k rpm. granted im not sayin all ricers are great or anything but the difference between a B18 LS (non vtec) integra motor and a vtec GSR motor is about 20 hp which helps a lot. the SOHC vtecs are slow which is whats in the accord and the EX civics. but my friend has a civic hatchback with a JDM B18 GSR engine in it and he'll pull mid-to- low 14s which is not bad for a normally aspirated honda/acura 4 cylinder plus he redlines at like 7800-8000 rpm. not tryin to be gay but just sayin that some vtec isnt somethin to point and laugh at. its revolutionized the way smaller displacement engines are made, almost every company has incorporated a form of variable valve timing for fuel efficiency with keeping power. but yay for V8s and 6s, good kill by the way.

Funny thing is, VTEC is almost outdated....It's been around since the early 90's. While it is a good way to get a good trade off between efficiency and "power", it isn't anything all too special anymore. BMW currently has what they call "Double-Vanos" which is seperate, continuously variable timing for intake valves and exhaust valves, all controlled variably, depending on engine speed, load, and temperature. VTEC is a simple on-off solenoid that selects either the low or high lobes on the cam. Whoop-dee-do...
