Spanked a GT.....twice

i should be to old for this but......

white late model mushtang gt up at the stop light so i pulled up next to him.
...light turns green
.....we roll to about 20
.......i hear him gun it
.........so i nail mine

i started to pull past but we were coming up on the next light so we had to back off.....fast.

nail the brakes and stop at the next light. BIG mistake running a tpi from a dead stop.

he guns his engine
.....i just smile
.......light turns green
..........oh crap.....we are on a hill......
............to much gas and i start smokin the tires
...............he pulls about a half a car on me at about 25ft

now, she bites...and bites BIG!!

i start to pull back up on him
......he goes to grab second
........and the next thing he sees.....

are my tail lights

after that he just dropped WAY back and turned off.

geez i wish sex were this much fun!!

just kidding about the last line!!

i do have one question though and hope i don't get in trouble for this but.....

why does my car sometimes seem to 'hook up' so much better than another? i am not talking about tire spin, i am refering to acceleration. when she stopped spinning this time it was like a turbo kicked in (no i don't have a turbo), the car jumped and just took off like it was shot out of a cannon. it doesn't do that all the time and i have no idea why it does this sometimes and not others.

Happy Trails!!

good to see a fellow Vortec 350 HO crate owner out there...Did you get the HO or did you get the engine w/ the TPI on it already??

I have the HO and TPI base plate....Runs pretty damn strong.

Good Kill

Did you change your TC in the car when you did the engine too? That is probably the 'turbo' effect you are feeling.

thanks guys, i love this site!!

right now i have the standard tpi runners and plenum. i have both large tube and the superram and need to get one or the other on.

have it on good authority the superram will not work without modification to the head bolts.

but as soon as i get an air compressor i am going to gasket match the runners and put on the large tube runners until i get up the 'nerve' and time to tackle the superram.

i came very, very close to putting a carb on and sometimes still think about it.

as for the TC, yes i did change it. (2400 street fighter, i think)
but it still only bites like this once in a while. don't get me wrong she runs pretty good but that 'shot out of a cannon' feeling is not always there.

do you think a shift kit for the tranny might make it more consistent? it does shift kinda mushy. it was rebuilt about 10k and shifted better with the 305 in it.

so how do you like your crate?

Sounds to me like the effects of a TPI intake, a TC, shift kit, and a car grabbing traction after spinning a little too much. Did the car grab traction just as it was about to shift into 2nd? If not, you might have problems. Doh.

So you went the route I traveled........I scrambled TWO trannys before I went with the raptor kit and I must say........GO WITH THE RAPTOR REBUILD KIT IF YOU CAN!!!! Barks seconds and WOT in fourth. Good to see a fellow 350 HO crate on the board. If you have any questions on anything about the motor....Let me know.

BTW Superram will not fit on the TPI base plate w/Vortec heads (unless you massage the hell out of it). Get those LTR on there and tell me how she runs. Lookin' to get a pair myself.

yep, sux about the superram. i still may still try it but will let you know about the runners when they get on, hopefully in the next 6 weeks.

after the light turned green i rolled out and i added a wee bit to much throttle, the tires broke free quite a bit. i kept my foot in it and she started to grab after about 25 feet and then all of a sudden the car jumped up and just took off! it was almost like i had taken my foot off the accelerator and then floored it again. kinda like it hit passin gear or something. i would deinately like to get that everytime

sorry, i just don't know how else to describe it.
