Encountered a Nova

I was coming home from work today just cruising, not in too much of a hurry, and hit a red light. So i sat there and couple seconds later an old Nova, (not sure what year it was) pulled up next to me. It had no paint just primer, Cragar SS rims, full exhaust, 4 speed, and im not sure what else. So he lets out this LOUD growl-of-a rev and I just sat there trying not to attract too much attention. I nodded at him and he nodded back. So the light turns green, i slammed the go pedal, burned out and my trans shook(bad mount, gotta get that fixed). I pulled on him instantly and by 40 i had atleast 3 cars on him. Then around 60 he started catching up quickly. By 70 we were tied and I shut down cuz I didn't wanna risk any tickets or accidents. Had we gone any faster, he would pulled on me cuz my car doesn't have much in the top end category at all, and his carb is better for that. But it was the best race I've had since getting the L98.

my best guess would be a 350. I'd have no idea what types of mods if any he had done to the motor. It's too often I come across a race, especially a muscle car. 90 percent of the very few I've had so far have been imports and the others were mustangs and then this Nova. Speaking of Mustangs maybe someone could help me out with this one. Did the SVT mustangs come with the Mustang GT ingraving on the rear bumper. Because the otherday I was on my way to a job site in my work truck, and was behind a mid 90s mustang that said Mustang GT on the bumper, but had a SVT badge on aswell. Im pretty sure I didn't hear any super charger. Is this one of those "I'll put a VTEC badge on my car, even though it's not" type of things?

99.9999% sure that all SVT's said cobra in the rear bumper. It is easier to change badging than an indented name on a bumper.

Where'd you race him, on Rt. 9? Its real bad here in freehold on that Rd. 2 of my friends just lost there liscenses. I thought you might have been talking about another nova here in this area. He's always driving around freehold/howell area and I know for sure you don't want to mess with him! Its a light yellowish butternut color with a big block and tall gears. I've witnessed him pull a high 10 at Englishtown all motor. Speaking of E-Town you should come on wednesday the 28th I'll be there. There is alot of quick cars in this town, be careful I learned the hard way.

No it was on route 18 in marlboro. This Nova was all primer, and if it was the yellow one your talkin about, he would have smoked me lol. Do you go to the Cruise Nights ever with your car?

Correct. All but the Cobra R cars. They used a V6 bumper that said "MUSTANG" because the Cobra R's have sidepipes, and all the V8 cars have cut outs on the bumper for the exhaust. The V6 bumper does not.
