ever win a race on 7 cylinders??

I woke up this morning to look for a job, Turned the car on and it was running pretty odd and not idling right but I figured it was because the motor was cold. On the way I saw a neon RS darting through traffic and being annoying so I decided to devirginize my new ride by smoking this guy. I pull up next to him and rev my motor, he accepts and we go...of course I walked him but it just didn't seem right, I shouldn't have walked him, I should have handed his *** to him on a silver platter.

After that I went back on my way but the car was still idling strangely so I pulled over and poped the hood to see if I needed to tune the carb a bit, I took off the air cleaner and looked up @ the distributor..... What do you know! the no.8 cylinder was unplugged! I was in so much shock I leaned over to put it back on and shocked myself! "car was running." So I beat a car with 7 cylinders.

Thats my story, now if you'll excuse me I need to put some ice on my fingers LOL!

I am still amazed lol, didn't really think it would run on 7 cylinders but I guess it does lol. Further inspection revealed that my 3 inch air cleaner was the cause because it doesn't clear the stock hood, but I make it LOL. When I closed my hood the back of the air cleaner rises pushing againt the plug & causing the no. 8 plug to pop off, I put a flat indent along the back of the air cleaner now so it doesn't happen again.

I did it last season, Found out a plug wire was dead. Granted I "raced" an Intrepid and killed it, when I look back the kid probably felt good he was running near a Mustang...

i beat a 1997+? caddy cts.. with my 383 on 7 clynders i was wondering why my motor didn't want to idle right.. i use a superram and one of the injectors wasn't plugged in..

needles to say he got his *** handed to him pretty bad..

383 :hail: :hail:

edit: AND my tranny wasn't shifting right the torque converter is stuck in the "lock" position.. i'm in the market for a new car

AND the computer wasn't tunned very well.. actually i still haven't hooked up a wideband o2 sensor but it hauls ***.... part throttle is tunned.. i just added 1.20 into every part of the PE table.. works...

Did it once with two plug wires mixed up. I switched the 2 and 3 plug wires around and on the Ford 302 it will run pretty good but hesitate when you get on it.

I raced a few times like that before i relized it.

Yep, spanked a friend in his Porsche and then afterwards popped the hood to find out why it was idling rough and found a plug wire off. I apologized to my friend and asked if he wanted a rematch!

yup my car was iddling like crap for days, i thought it was something with the computer, anyhow i was headiing over to a buddys house and my other friend was in his integra, we had raced like 2-3 times before when i was stock and i allways pull abit on him, but now i had headers and full exhaust, my friend being a riser and knowing nothing about cars said that he could beat me cause the headers wouldn't have enough backpressure and would make me slower so we raced from 20-55 i pulled a car on him but i usually pull 2-3, and my car was running real hot, so i pulled over pop the hood and realize that my #4 plugwire had burned up on the header and u could see it sparking on the header, after he saw this he walked away and wouldnt talk about it ever again.

It happened to me 16 years ago. I was driving my friends 1976 455 TA home from a night club. He was to drunk to drive. Going down the highway a IROC Z starts playing with me. Well I hammer it and had him by a car at 110 and let off. The car seemd to be sluggish and I pupped the hood and one of the sparkplug wires melted on to the header. I laughed because I still beat the Z on 7 cylenders. It was a fun night for sure.

I had a pretty hideous miss in my 91 RS when it was still equipped with the mighty L03 with not 1 mod done to it. I had acquired the car with 190,000 miles on the motor, about 1 cup of jet black motor oil and 6 spark plugs didn't have electrodes. I fixed that but was pretty new at car repair so when the car started running rough I never thought anything about it. I raced 2 other L03 equipped automatic Camaro's both 90 models, one the same color as mine (teal) and the other was a darker blue with the heritage stripes; I won both races by over 2 cars. I finally took the car to a friends and found that i had cooked my 5 and 7 plug wires together in the back! So not only was I missing out to the manifolds but I had a pretty horrible cross spark going on. Later on I did some work on the heritage striped car and found almost as much oil as i had in my engine in his air cleaner assembly!!! His entire PCV system was completely gummed up to where nothing would flow through and it was sucking oil into the air cleaner, guess that explains that win. I have no clue what was up with the other car, I know it ran decent and I believe it even had exhaust. I suppose it could've been GM's randomly set factory fuel pressure regulator.

its because there cars have alot of problems and are used to running on 7 cylinders so they seen this post and figured they could give us tips on it since they run like this often.

91greenbird that was awesome. One thing I will have you notice though is that the Mustang owners on these forums are the fast Mustang owners. I have a theory on that and it goes: The third gen crowd is a very small select group, since third gen Camaros never sold like the fox body Mustangs did it's very hard to pass off garbage on Camaro owners. This forum is dedicated to showing fellow members what works and what's a joke. Marketers quickly found that there wasn't much money in marketing to the third gen crowd, none the less in marketing stuff that didn't work. The Mustang owners on this site share that mentality that's why most of them are going amazingly fast without the expensive *aka silly* aftermarket products avaliable for the Mustangs. That may be incorrect, they may just be here to razz us but that's how I see it. Just take a look around, you don't see many Mustang owners on these boards asking for advice, and you don't see many stock Mustang owners on here, just guys who know the ropes and have quick cars.

i know, and they usually have good advice. i was just wondering how they even found this place, and why they would come on this board, and not any other random car board. and its not like theres just one or two of them. maybe at heart they know they really want an fbody

That's probably it, they're in love with the styling of the Third gen but they're Mustang owners so they're not allowed to say that

No 7 cylinder wins or races but I did beat some import at the track pretty good. I had a passenger with me so I couldn't go quicker than 13.99, I let off right before half track and still won
