So the story beigns with me wrecking my RS. I searched for a few weeks for a replacement car and it was found in the form of a 1984 Monte Carlo SS. This badboy had ulgy paint no rust and one ratty interior. Exactly what i was looking for. I poped the hood and saw a autozone dress up kit and sighed. But when i lefted that air clearner my fac lit up with joy for i saw a holley 650 stareing me in the face!I quickly took of my chepo valve covers and saw beautifuly ported and polished 882 heads headmen logtubes into fullpipes with 40 super fourtys dumping before the rear. A th350 with a 2800 stall an edelbrock mainfold and i almost cried when i herd "355 cid"!I took her for a ride and the posi rear made the tires scarem as i asked "gear ratio?" i smiled with the reply "3.73". I then aksed "any times?" he replyed with "13.8@103". I aksed "with all these mods only a 13.8" with a hint of dispair in my voice. He replyed "nope before the heads rearend tranny with converter and the carb and spacer". I got tingly with excitement and asked the price. He replyed with 2800. I told him 2500 he said deal andi now owned this car. I got her home replaced the starter,fluids,wires ect and slaped on a pair of 295/50/15 bfg's and went to the streets. I crusied for hours not one bite! The night is over im on my way home on an empty twolane backstreet. I hear a roar and i look in my rear view and what do i see? A 2002 WS6.... I say to myself "Its on" with a slight smirk. I slowly cross the cannal andcoast to a halt at the stop sign. i postup and wait the trans am. He pulls up his tinted windows rolled up and then i looked at him with the biggest grin in the world. He starts to honk the horn slowly like the beat fo a heart ......One...Two...Three and im gone. We are neck and neck outa the hole i spin lightly catch traction and we stay nose and nose. I take her to 7k and slam the rachet shifter into second and the car hesatates and then the tires brake loose and i get slamed back into my seat i catch traction again and start pullin one cars two cars i see the tach at 7500rpm and i smash the shifter into drive i take off as if i had nitrous and i look at my speedo 115mph i push the shifter into netural and glide about half a mile to a stop light turn on my music and calmly wait at the light. A few seconds later the transam comes in slwoly rolls down his window and says "Holy **** man what the **** just happend?" i smirk and say "You just got smoked sir" he bursts into laughter and gives me the thumbs up and says "i thought you where a push over POS ******* strait outa the 80's!" and i replyed "you thought wrong" he asked about my mods i aksed about his we both gave the thubs up and i slowly creeped away into the night......

 

Sweet!!! Take it to a track or chassis dyno and see what kind of numbers it's making.

Man, I would hate to buy one of those nice 4th gens and have that happen to me, but sounds like he took it well. Nice run, and take this thing to the track, it's gotta be 12's.

You gonna stay with the monte? Or try to find another thirdgen? Montes are nice, great kill. Put that motor in a thirdgen and it will rip!

I bought the car for 2500!
MY buddy will paint the car for 1000 bucks and a guys sellin my an interior or 500 so total build cost :4300 thats a hell of alot better than 10 plus gradn he payed for the transam and mods

 

I might have missed something, but are you reving higher than stock? If not, you could by pass the expense of upgrading your vavle train right?

 

Its got new lifters,pusrods,vlaves,valve job,springs and a aet of comp stamped rockers...
