4th gen LS1 with Vortech

Hrm, I saw this guy in the parking lot with a 4th gen and we was reving up his borla exhaust (didn't sound too tough) so I went over to him and ask him if he wanted to run em....he had 4 friends with him and wouldn't pop the hood, I finally got him to open it.....looked like a stock ls1 with a Vortech he said he is doing 650rwhp (that seems wayy too high) and said it tops out at 180.....I said I would run him in the quater mile....and his buddies were all like "hell yah do it" and he told me "nah i just filled up with gas and I don't wanna waste it" he said he was running 12psi vortech.....i don't know can i do it? Its a 6 speed....

I saw him running it earlier from a half mile distance on the road and it didn't look too fast from that distance....

He looked at my car, and acted like it wasn't ****, but his buddies were telling him "man that **** is set up for quater mile and yours is top end" he seemed like he was really confident and I heard him when I was walking away say "I hate to run him because he would loose horribly..."

I wanna watch him and get a better feel for my car before I run him.....

If my car was as fast as you think yours is, I would race anyone, anytime (well, reasonably). What's to be afraid of? Let's say he beats you by two cars, if you can put two cars on a ZO6 at partial throttle, he'll have nothing but respect for you. He sounds like a jackass, go put him in his place.

EDIT: 4th gen is the LT1 right? The other night when I was at the track, there was an LT1 with some guages (and a huge Supra wing, lol) and I swore I could hear the supercharger. Anyway, he was dialed in at 14.8. My buddy used to have an LT1 SS (Hendrix Edition) and the new owner races it at Club Clash and runs the same times with just exhaust and a clutch.

Stock LS1 with 12lbs will move quick. i would guess he has 550-600 hp (no more than that) on the motor based on about an 70-80% gain from the boost and that exhaust. Thats his highest he can have IMHO, unless its not stock. vortec chargers arent intercooled are they? If it is, that helps alittle, but more than likely he has 50-60% gain which gives 500-530hp on motor. thats alot of boost. I doubt he is over 8lbs boost.

Depends on your traction and his driving skill, rearend gear, and also his traction. If you launch well, it will be close, but you'd pull in the quarter.

If it's a stock LS1, he can't be running more than 10-12lbs boost, if that.

Go and walk him. The satisfaction is unbelievable.
I walked my dad's buddies '05 SVT Cobra 'vert on my new engine's inaugural run, it felt great.

Wow an 05 Cobra already, thats awesome, what kind of power do they make. I thought we had to wait until 06 but maybe they came out early???

JK no 05s, probably an 04.

12 psi if it is running that will make HUGE power. I saw well over 400 from a mesely 6 psi on a friends auto!

Now that i think about it, LS1 are around 10 to 1 compression ratio or higher right? 12 lbs is too much for that. I think he has a 6-8 psi unit.

You're right, this years, '04 model, I jumped the gun. Gorgeous car though. Pretty damn quick. But, surprisingly, I was quicker.:hail:

10 psi is believeable but I think most bolt on supercharger kits for LS1 cars don't make over 6. A guy here in our club ran 12 psi with a twin turbo set-up on his stock internal LS1 and ran high 9's at 136 all day long. He did have a powerglide, moser rear and a cage but the point is that LS1 cars can scream with boost.

I just saw him romp on it in front of school again and it sounds like he shifts WAYY too high, I visually saw and heard the car floating the valves, it looked like he blew something every gear because he was slowing down then hit the next gear and be strong then slow down with that horrible WEWEWEWWEWEWE sound....ouch hell if I put it off long enough I may never have to race him LOL he will blow it up himself.

Eagle crank
10.7:1 Ceramic coated hypereutectics
"pink" rods
Pro Lightning 200cc heads
1.6 Scorpion RR
Comp XE274-.523/.523
Holley 650DP
Torker II intake
MSD everything.
"craptastic" flowtech headers into a crossflow Flowmaster

The exhaust is corking it up really bad, very noticable. At like 3000rpm, it takes off like it was stopped.
Works pretty well.

4th gens are LT1's and LS1's, and that guy needs to learn how to drive. In my stock 94 Z28 I ran a 13.9@103 mph. Stock 2000 Z28 I ran a 13.2@106 mph.

from what i understand people with auto trannies just simply put it in "d" and floor it so they are very accurate in brackets (your times are slow as hell but at least you might win)
