Some street fun night with my new 1988 Pontiac Trans Am GTA

Just bought back a car I had in the past. It's a 1988 Pontiac Trans Am GTA, 305 TPI, automatic transmission, 3.27 rear, all original with absolutely no modifications or rebuild with 185 000km (114 000 miles).

Last night I had a couple of good races! We were two in my car.

First race was against a nice and original looking 1964 Chevrolet Corvette with a 327. I tought we were gonna lose bad since most of the time they have been modified a lot by now. When the light turned green, we launched at the same time, we both spin real bad, but I got in front by like one car lenght, then at about 70mph, he finally catched up and he won in the end by like 1/2 car lenght.

Second race was against a Neon RT with like 3 people in it. They were like 17 years old, they looked at my car like it was a slow or something. Light turn green, and vlammmmmm, I go and the car goes sideways and when it finally grip, we are gone. Won by about 4 car length at the very least.

Next, was against two Acura Integra. One had a full body kit, lowered, CRV motor with some other things... Needless to say, I raped him real bad! At a stop or high speed, it was always the same. Later, I found another Acura Integra that looked like an original one with nothing. (even had a burnt light on his car) Oh man, he raped me, don't know what he had, never stoped to tell me!

Last race was against an Eagle Talon (4x4) TSI with a turbo, this one was heavily modified! He had me by like 4 cars at 75mph! The guy was nice tought. He complimented my car, did the same for him.

Here's a few pics of my new old car:

Nice car, but are those exhaust tips stock? Never seen them before. Sweet races. Are you planning on modding the GTA? It looks real good, eh?

Just the look on the guys face, I could have some fun on the honda boards with that one, but that would be kinda childish and troll like of me, so I don't. I just think its a funny pic, it wasn't meant to be a bash on his sig or anything, there is a bigger version of that pic floating around the net.

I bet you'd also think you were the first one to try it too, just like all of the other trolls who think the same thing.

That is one of the best looking cars I have ever seen.
What is the color code for that color? I'm about to have mine repainted.

Thanks, it's not the best, but I like it a lot! The color is bright red, it was one of the color for GTA in 88. You should find the color pretty easily, just say you wan't bright red paint that was used on GTA in 1988.

That's great, I miss going sideways and stuff. It's not a race winning manuever by any means, but it sure frightens the novices and it's alot of fun!

That's the beautiful GTA I always wish I had, I don't even like red and that car looks awsome!

I would say that It's typical as far as those races went. It's cool that the 327 guy actually raced you, he may have been stock, like you said, and his rear tires and suspension probably wern't the best to work with.

The guy with the 'plain jane' integra probably saves his money for real mods, those cars can be very fast. The kids with the toy, probably spent all thier cash on a body kit, wing and rims and still haven't even changed the oil!

The talon,....well another sneaky import. With AWD and turbos, it's not to hard for these to stay competitive.

As a former owner of an '84 T/A I will have to say that there is nothing like driving a V8 thirdgen....with torque and good handling!
