Ran a fast+furious clone

I'm at the gas station and in pulls this green eclipse, i had heard about it from a budyy who kept tellign me it was the car from teh movie, it wasnt but anyways he said he saw the rs from the street and wandered if i'd be interested in a little competition.

Checked out his he checked out mine, turbo eclipse everythign looked stock except intake, exhasut and body. everything under the hood had been chromed out, I must say for an import and especailly a car done to try to look like a movie car it was EXTREMELY well put together. Everything was clean, excelent paint work, clean interior if it wasnt for the lime green color i would have loved it.
So we sit at teh driveway and wait for a clear in traffic, he pulls out and waits for me to get next to him, about 35 he takes off so i punch it in 1st, bring it way up hit 2nd(megashifter is so nice) about 2 cars on him now slam into 3rd and pull more on him, so he gets up in his gears and catches up gets right on my rear bumper i let up and hit overdrive and just start cruising off on him. So this is down mississippi in colorado which is basically a straight stretch out towards buckley air force base and i live right there, he follows me to the house, we talked for awhile had something to drink talked cars, said that was the first good race he had gotten where he lost, said the only people he ever gets to race are ricers and liek he said a stock eclipse has no problem smokign a honda. cool guy good run and a win for the rs!

I know exactly where that is, and I'll keep an eye out for that eclipse.

Stu, It's by Mississippi and I25 (I think, or 225, whatever it is). There's a best buy right there.

Man, I love the kill. I really do wish I lived in a place where there were people with the mentality to actually race and be a good sport about it.
I live in Isla Vista, CA. Its pretty much a student ghetto suburb of Santa Barbara. All these kids come here living out of their parents pockets becuase of the notorious party life here; college is a secondary concern. Anyways, we get kids cruising around in these nice acuras, mazdas, pretty nice imports and the very few that do race have this totally shovenistic attitude and refuse to acknowledge you as a human if you arent in a japanese car.

Embrace the sportsmanship. Keep up the kills

I know exactly what Patriotik is talking about, I get that quite a few times around here too....if you're not driving an import, you're not welcomed or acknowleged but I always tell them "I make more torque and hp @2500rpm than 6 of your honda civics put together LOL!!

I hear that. Also, I hear alot of the "Import Tuner" coughricercough guys justifying these rediculous body kits, wings, vinyl fetishes, etc by saying that they want their cars to be original. And this guys builds a car to resemble one in a movie that is full of technical holes, and other BS that would make anyone who knows anything about cars **** the bed. Whatever though, who am I to judge them? Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

I live in Santa Barbara (as previously noted) and just got back from driving up and down town for the better part of an hour looking for a bite. No luck, I'm going to bed

Actually, Im quite surprised how easy it is to get a bite here in Louisville. I used to live down in Evansville, IN and they supposedly had a "street racing scene' and such. When I got my 84 Ranger (really clean mint truck, with some old school SS Crager), I went to check it out and let me say it was truly sad. All these guys thought they were so hard but would never race. There were a couple Fox bodies, 2 or 3 4th Gens and a butt load of r!cers. So, when I went down there and my buddy was with me, it was truly lame. No fun at all, they stood around and talked. No one even considered a race, no talks of them at all even tho they were "hardcore street racers". I went there 3 times in the Ranger and stopped. I went back about a year later, only 1 4th Gen no 3rd gens couple Fox bodies and a slew of more R1cers who were all show and no go. I pulled up in my Camaro, rumbling with the glasspacks and the R1cers were snickering at me and stuff and I got out and told them if they thought my car was so "raggedy and uncool" then they should put me in my place....I finally got one of the Civic boys to run, he hadl iek a gang of 5 other hatchback nerds and afteR I left him in the dust, he made excuses and I ran a Accord, beat him bad and ran an Eclipse, even worse. Finally the Fox Body guys stood up and said they wanted a run. So, I lined up against this black 5.0 Stang and he had the "purge" and flames and I thought I might have been in trouble....the Berly took him too, turns out the purge was fake and the flames were the kit style. Their "hardcore racing scene" was a joke.....AfteR i smoked them all, the snickers turned to awe of my car and I never went back after that, becuase it was so lame, those were the supposedly "fastest crs in the area"...and my bolt on Camaro took them all.

Once i got up here to Louisville, it was alot differant, till the cops cracked down, up here, it was alot bigger and a little more serious....There were fast cars, loads of r!cers, bikes and stuff but the thing is, it was still lame, cause you had the R1cers ruining it all with their stupid attempts at drifting and people always ran to their cars when a cop would cruise up and kick his lights on. I would just walk to my car but everyone was acting like a bunch of idiots, running to their cars like in TFATF...the cop was just breaking up the stuff. When I finally did run the LO3, it was so sad, cause the guy lining us up was like "I dont wanna see none of that slow stuff at the Valley". I told him to have his car ready next....he didnt even have a car, so he had no room to talk whatsoever, he was just riding in his buddies "Super Fast Accord"....all the dumb R!cers thought this Accord was fast because the dude red lighted on a night where the Tracks system was crazy and messed up and he ran a 8.11 pass and "beat a v8 Domestic" one that had a horrible driver, wasnt firing in 2 cylinders and had a slipping tranny.....but then again I guess mine is REALLY fast my LO3 ran a 7.2

Anyways I just added a pointless post lol.

im with you on this one. i highly doubt an l03 or lg4 could beat that 5.0 stang. they are real light for the overall size and engine. knock them if you want but they can be quick. even a stock 5.0 wouldnt get beat by a l03 i dont think. if so thats sad.

so i am calling

Well, anything can happen, I guess. I have seen people lose that shouldnt, but I cant believe that either. The guy shouldn't have had any problems at all dusting you.

lol no, i didnt have the LO3 back then, I had an 85 Berly with a L69 transplanted into it (checked the numbers). 3.08 posi traction rear end, shortie generic headers, dual exhaust, no AC or smog, Vic Jr intake, Carter carb, no options, PS removed....more weight reduction in the motor bay than anything......great little motor but I ended up blowing it up, threw a rod to be exact....then I didnt have a Camaro for like 5 months, was in a slammed S10...then I got the LO3.....then the t-top over this summer.

Sad thing is, i never got to run that L69 at a track..wish I could have, it was a quick little car

EDIT: BTW, you have to add in the factor these guys oculdnt drive....of the group of 3 Stang drivers, 2 of them had autos and the one I raced had a 5 speed and he missed like 2nd and 3rd and by then I had too much of a lead....My point is these guys said they were "hardcore racers" and they actually sucked...Im not the best but jeez, im not out braggin Im the best lol.

I said that or someone else said that, nowhere in the original post did i say teh eclipse was an rs, not sure what the eclipse was but it was turbo for sure i saw and heard it.
I think partially what killed the eclipse was it was an automatic, so is mine but i was manual shifting

As for the 5.0 stangs, there must be all the fast ones at sea level, since at the elevation here i have taken quite a few of em, not saying any blow outs but i have had all of em hang right on my tail atleast the older ones 86-93 new ones have no problems, i did have one running a paxton and 370 somethign stroker blow teh *** right off me

The auto Eclipses have a smaller turbo. Do you happen to know if it was a first or second genereation DSM? I think the first gens might have had the same TD05H on the auto cars.

"Know your Enemy." Just one of the important points to remember. "Know yourself" is another good one. I'm still lacking on knowledge about Fords and Mopar stuff, though.

at elevation you would be affected by the same problem of lack of air that they would be
and if you are having no problems with the 5.0 stangs that would put you what running mid 14's or there abouts at or near sea level
around the same range as an l98

14x4 open element, accel module, accel cap and rotor, msd blaster coil,8mm msd helicore wires, 3" exhaust, muffler delete, high flow cat,

and with those as your only mods I would find it hard to believe
sorry man not trying to start problems
but those aren't massive mods
and they shouldn't put you around l98 territory like the 5.0 mustang should be (least if it was a stick) and the auto's should still be able to put a little hurt on you

Well i've taken 5.0 stangs adn i dont have my jet chip which has been minorly tuned for the elevation difference (since jet calibrates them for sea level they never work right out here) that was on when i got the car, found the chip by mistake when i pulled down the kick panel and the ecm was just laying there

Gonna get it out to the track this spring and see what she does hopefully by tehn i'll have my custom chip done and some other stuff

It was the newer style eclipse maybe 96-97 or so

Well by rights if it was the smaller turbo, i have no idea what size or whatever, shouldnt he have had pulled on me right away, he started comign up on me when i was up in gears. Smaller turbo spools faster, unless, can a bigger turbo be swapped in from a manual car or 1st ge. It didnt have any casting that would tell me it was aftermarket and i have buddies with dsm's it looked like a stock turbo

Yeah, he could have put whatever turbo he wanted in there. He probably just moves better at higher speeds than you do.

Not to menntion the higher elevation/turbo issue. I've driven a GST with a little 16G turbo, thing hauled ***. Guy in the Eclipse must have been all show, that 4G63 motor in those things will scream with very little work. Still a good kill though.

A 16G isn't really a small turbo though. Well, it's not big, but it's bigger than the tiny 14b they come with stock.

Welll...small as far as turbo's go, for that 4g63 it's almost ideal.
