Which is faster?

Just wondering, how did the 85-90 tpi 5.0 305's fare against the 5.0 Mustangs?

Does anyone one the specs on the mustangs?

Hmmm specs on Mustangs, I think some guys on here might know...

I will say this, it all depends. A 5.0 GT vert with an auto and junk gears is a mid 15 second car, and pretty much any TPI is as fast if no faster. A 5.0 notch with a stick and 3.08 gears will pretty much walk any TPI car, even the 5-speeds. Heres my guess on the cars...

TPI auto: 14.9-15.4
TPI stick: 14.6-15.1
Mustang auto: 14.9-15.4
Mustang stick: 14.2-14.8

Its all about the car, mods, drivers, tune, etc...

Those times fit right in with what I've witnessed at the track - nice to see people not trying to blow smoke about performance!

And that last line is so right on, and so often overlooked (which continues to amaze me!). A fast car in the hands of a slow driver is no longer a fast car!!

Again my times listed assume a perfect tune and a good running motor. They also are times you will see at sea level. Factor higher elevation, worse track prep and temps, bad tune, old age, bad driver, there are so many variables... I would say that 16.2 shows there is something wrong, or your at a higher elevation. There are going to be cars that fall out of those numbers, thats life, these are just what the times should be around under decent conditions, and the car in the right tune!

Key word is "best" time. Wonder what the other times were. Could be something restrictive you got there. I'd check everything from the rad back. You may have replaced a part that is restrictive, or have something causing a restrictive problem. Stock and new you should be running a mid 15.
But hey, if you can't go fast at least you can look good cruising
