Layed the Smackdown on a ThirdGen once again!
This was Sunday afternoon, really nice day and Im cruising in the Stang, windows downenjoying the day. Just made a trip to the auto parts store to buy my gaskets as Im reassembling my 305 in my 82
I hita light on this 2 lane wide main road called Bardstown Rd. Im sitting there and this red 91-92 Camaro Z28, grey primered doghouse, a Berlinetta front clip
and T-tops rolls up beside me. Guys looking all hard at me, t tops out, and he thorws this rev. Im not sure if its an exhaust leak or his mufflers but I throw a 2500 rev back at him and then he redlines his rev and I see the light is about to turn green so I rev up to 3500RPm and hold it and when it goes green, he udmps his clutches and starts spinning bad and I use a new technique as I ease out of the clutch as I keep the RPM's up so I dont blow the tires off and once I disengage it I floor it and it doesnt spin, works pretty well on the streets and although it seems long, its very quick.
Anyways, I come out of the hole and gain a *** half car lead and dontget into it and let him get beside me. Im pacing him, around 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and he's all into his, I hear his motor roaring. I keep speed matching him through the middle of second and he looks over at me and smirks a cocky grin. I look back at him and smile, then punch it and walk his *** hard, slam into 3rd at 5500RPM and continue to walk him until I have like 6 cars or so on him at aorund 80MPH and let out and get into the turning lane, and I slow down and coast into my right turn and he just flies by, no recognition. It was pretty funny cause this guy must have thought he had something....too bad he had no chance.
I do miss my T-tops right now, espeically in this nice weather....Thats why I love riding in my roommates IROC, its fast, clean and has T-tops

It was an estimation, could have been less and most likely was. Car was pretty raggedy looking and sounded like crap. I was easily pacing him and having good fun. I shut down at around 80-85 or so and he was a good ways back. All I know was this car was crap and was most likely a ragged out 305TPI. Ive seen a worn out 350TPI car run a 16.0 in the 1/4 before so anything is possible....plus we all know the badassness of the 5.0 Mustang

Its not cocky, its a joke, he owns a thirdgen! There are a LOT of cocky Mustang owners out there who just make us look bad. Dont base your opinion on all of them based on a few!

Im not cocky about it, just relishing in my victory. And the 5.0 Mustang, its got a reason for having more cocky drivers than a ThirdGen, because you can put them in the 12's with around 1000-1500 bucks. Not only that, but the fact that the aftermarket for the Mustang is pretty much the largest out there.
I do own a ThirdGen but it has provided me with anywhere near the fun I have in my Stang....cant wait till next weekend, Gear install!

"Well, all I'd have to do is supercharge my motor, spend ten thousand dollars on suspension up grades, get my license back, have my brother's friend, who's a really good drag racer, drive my car, be at sea level, have little to zero humidity, have my lucky rabbit's foot, and my mom in the stands to cheer me on, then I'd smoke your ***."
That's why I'm sometimes able to get cocky with people on this board about the car I had. Every post was filled with ten kids who knew what it took to make a fast car, and constantly told me how they could waste me if.....but never actually had fast cars. I hate that. If you know how to make a car fast, do it and quit just talking about it, because until then, my car still eats yours for breakfast with all my friends in it at the same time.
So, I wasn't at all calling you a liar, just asking if you actually have a fast car, rather than beind just another jerk like the example I gave. So far, sounds good to me.

I got the pistons, and block already in the shop, just need rings, and the rear going in the cars already here, just need to pay the kid for it, and then Ill be solid low 12s! Oh yes still stock parts, I just like to mix and match the years and such to get my go fast goodies! So can I talk about running 10s now...
J/K.
Mustangs dont cost a lot to go fast, but Fbodies dont really either! Its just that the 5.0 aftermarket is huge and has a ton of parts!

Hang in there bud. If it weren't for dreams and expectations all our lives would ****. everytime someone asks me why I want a fast gas guzzeler over a minivan I gotta hold down the hurl. But the fear in their eyes as I go down the steet with their kids out sustains me. Don't care who you are or what you got we are never fast enough. and if i'm not dream'n about going faster just kill me.Member

Around here it's either hit or miss with 5.0 stangs. I've seen (and raped) alot of them. Even nice looking ones. but then there's a few that are actually fast.
I figure you can tell the difference by looking at someone's tires... If he's serious you can tell right then.. *looks for his nittos*

Hmm, cool makes my sleeper status raise a bar, I will be running cheapo Pep Boys tires. Have seen guys go 1.70s on these tires with the same power as my car!
I can usually tell with the Mustang crowd, by the mods they have done whether they have done their HW or not!
