Beat a C6 vette to 1000 foot
I out launched him with a 1.89 60 foot to his 2.23 60 foot, but he had a .069 reaction time to my .492 so he left first. i manually shifted thru the gears and had my nose peaking past his all the way to 1000 foot were he pulled around 2-2.5 cars on me at the finish. beat me by a 14 thousands of a second! LOL check it out in my post in the drag racing forum
on the street from a roll he would have pulled me pretty hard but he obviously cant drive since he is running same times as a stock C5 but it sure was fun. i was surprised as well as alot of people that i hung with him

Nice run! You got a great launch. The new vettes really wake up with the removal of the torque management system. GM high tech perf went from a 13.2 to like a 12.3 by just by overiding it. With simple bolt ons they were into the 11's.

and how many car manufacs do that?
I think that is cool that they WANT you to go to the track and will fix you if you break something KNOWING that you where racing it
but then again this also might help out
think about it if gm gets lots of warrenty work for something breaking when going to the track they know it's a weak link and can better it..
kinda like on the road beta testing :-D

All IRS cars with that amount of power are suseptible to that type of driveline failure. You could almost say that it is inherrent to that type of design. The 03/04 cobras are the same way. Since the C6 is so much more than an all out drag car, GM implemented ways to keep driveline shock down. It is a unique system but it makes modding it hard.
GM is so proud and confident with the C6 they made such a claim. They actually encourage people to take the new ZO6 to the track. They want to show that they have the ability and technology to have a reliable 11 second street car.

good job Orr! not many 3rdgen owners can say they stood with a new vette even up to 30mph.

well he left the line first but i hooked and out launched him in the first 330 feet and held there until the 1000foot where i still had him. but even if he blew the launch, all he should have had to do was step on the gas and drive right past me. those things trap a good 110+mph and go lower mid 12's. thats a good 14+mph more than me. 1/4 mile is far enough that he should have ran me silly and i dont understand why he couldnt pull once he hit 2nd and 3rd and so on. he only trapped 105mph. that alone makes me somewhat down the new vette when i know very well the true performance they offer.
its just a feeling i have know even tho i understand he didnt drive it 100%

No offense man, but I wouldn't bag on his driving skills that much. You must have been eating a sammich at the light! If you would have had a decent R/T, you would have beaten him outright! Practice makes perfect!
