2004 ish 325i vs lo3

it was around 11 clock at night and we stop at the light and this bmw pulls up. has two guys in it and im with my friend so its pretty fair. ialso had my t tops out tho. well light goes green and they floor it and and i roll in to the gas and the have about a half a car lead and when he shifts gives me enough time to get up even with him. then through second i pull about a half car length.then i notice im starting to go into red line and not shifting and he starts to pull ahead by about a bumper. i let off some and it shifts and i lay back in to it and i get about half a car length on him before i shut down and i stoped at 105 mph. im pretty proud of my lo3. its is basicly bone stock. has a open elemnt filter. converter is cut off and thats it. im positive it was a 325i and a newer 2000. what times do these cars run??

Wow im really suprised on the BMWs. I raced two of the 325i's before. And i was suprised on how i just pulled away from the 2nd one on a 10 mph roll. But more shockingly, i beat the first one from a 60 mph roll.

But its always nice to see some1s face after their expensive car just got shut down by a old camaro or t/a.

anyways, good race

What does the price of the car have to do with how fast it is? That's like saying:

"I drag raced my friend's parents house the other day. They'll probably go trade it in after getting beat by an old Camaro."

becasue you pay a whole lot more for a performance car that gets beat by a 1500 dollar camaro. and what in the world does that house thing have to do with anything...that doesnt make any sense.

A BMW 325i isn't a performance car. I'm sorry you fail to see the connection I'm making.

But the person who's drive it thinks it is and they think that since they bought a really expensive car, it would kill an old trans am.

And the bmw's are just a tad bit performance btw. Made to cruise on the audobahn (sp?) without struggling

No, a BMW 325i isn't a performance car, and anyone who thinks that it is obviously doesn't even own it, and surely didn't buy it. Let's get real kids.

I think most people who buy BMW's are more interested in the luxury aspect of the automotive world. Also, try driving a BMW at high speeds on the autobahn as compared to our relatively harsh ride at anything above 75 mph. A BMW owner will have the luxury of cruising at 90 MPH with an almost silent and smooth ride. Not to say that a camaro couldn't be made to do the same thing with money, but again, a BMW owner usually focuses on the amenities that come with the stock form. Not rocketing to 120 MPH on the autobahn in 12 seconds. M3, M5, Z8 aside, these are pure performance animals, that also incorporate the luxury of a BMW. I'm not trying to put anyone's opinion down, and I agree to a point that some BMW owners would look down on a 87 TA and think "I could mop the floor with my Beemer". But to assume that all BMW owners think their car is superior in speed to all is stereotyping. NOW, if you're driving an Enzo, or a Ford GT, I might let that assumption slide

Exactly. People are just jealous of nicer cars, so they are quick to point out the only thing they'll ever have on that car, which is straight line acceleration. It's like saying how your $400 stereo sounds better than the factory stereo of a nicer car; stupid.

Not to hi-jack your thread, but I actually was able to drive an M5 over the summer. My GM at the hotel I work at asked me to detail his car(part time work). The thing rides as if it were on rails, and it feels as though you're getting launched off an aircraft carrier when you punch the throttle. The most gorgeous interior I've ever been in. Although, I really enjoyed driving a Z06 as well. But, the leather on a BMW needs to be ridden in to be believed. Again, it just takes money, and any car can be made equal. Some people just prefer to buy it that way first.

I see exactly what your saying stu! Also like saying your suped up 4 cylinder can out run a stock V8. We know our cars are old and obsolete! If the only thing we have left is out running newer cars (that are better in almost everyway) in a straight line than so be it I can live with that.

You can live with that, until you actually buy a nice car. It's hard to go back.

I prefer decently nice car combined with hauling ***, all with a good price. Thus why I bought my T/A.

Once you drive a V8, it's hard to go back as well.
