Who will win??

my buddy just bought a 1997 Buick regal GS that has the supercharged 3.8. My car is an 86 iroc with LB9 with no cat and flowmaster exhaust. my best run is a 15.400 with poor traction. before we race i will have new SFC's, LCA's poly bushings and shocks plus i will have bigger stickier tires on weld draglites. The regal will probably have a homemade CAI that were gonna make.

-we will go from a stop and i said id give him the hit cause he will lose traction pretty bad.

Any opinions on who will win?

If you run a 15.4 than he will more than likely beat you. It should be close none the less.

I think you got it for sure, i ran close to a 15 with my LB9 with a 700-r4 before her transplant, and if im not mistake the Car will be FWD and comes with 240 WHP and 280 ft lbs from the factory, maybe more than you but has a factory estimated run time of 15.5 in the 1/4, and weighs around 3500 lbs, a little more with driver. I think you got it, as long as you can drive it .

The LB9 was really detuned for 86. It got the cam from the LG4. So it lost a good 25 hp. Should be a good race but you will have to do better than a 15.4.

The 97 Regal GS should be running in the 14.9-15.1 range. So you will need a few more mods.

Do all of the "Free mods". TB bypass, Port the plenum, gut the air boxes. Then get some good headers along with runners and intake manifold, and say bye bye to him.

i have never heard anything about this de-tuned LB-9. What is the difference and how fast is the good LB9?

-I have already done TB coolant bypass and gutted the airboxes. I also have a AFPR that i will bump up to 49 psi before the race. I just bought new LCA's, SFC's, shocks, and poly bushings for everything. I may port my upper plenum as well before the race.

-also I think I will win because I know my car very well and i will get good traction. He just got the car last week and isnt used to driving a "sporty" car yet. He doesnt no how to roll into the gas to get traction.

The 85 LB9's were rated at 215 hp and ran around 15.1. In 86 GM for some unknow reason decided to put a cam from an LG4 into the LB9. Minus 25 hp which resulted in about 1/2 second longer 1/4 times. In 87 you could either get the LB9 with 190 hp 5-speed. Or 215 hp auto. In 88 both the 5-speed and the autos bumped up 5 hp. In 89 the LB9 auto had 230 hp,and the 5-speed 220. These cars were good for high 14's in the 1/4. 90-92 LB9s were pretty much high 14's. Unless you got the 1LE package. This is everything I know about LB9 cars. If I missed anything feel free to add....

Take a look, and correct thyself accordingly.

And note the LB9 cam specs at the bottom. The auto LB9s had the same cam 86-92, not just in 86.
