I got KILLED!!!!

Last night I was going home and I stoped at a four way stop and let this '00-up mustang go first and he burns out so i give chase. I was behind him when we gun it, he pulled at least 3 cars on me the whole time we raced, till he turned around at the light. It was a newer GT with exhaust and maybe some other things. My car is stock with K&N filter, cat-back and afpr. Did i get smoked bad?

You can't be getting beat by mustangs bro. Yes his car is '00 but you have the coolness factor of a thirdgen which is at LEAST worth 10hp. Next time stay high in the rpms and he won't beable to get out of the way quick enough.

Why can't some of you losers accept the fact that you don't drive the fastest car in the world?

Your car is way older than his. Let him line up with a 2000 camaro with the same mods and see what happens

Well I guess someone ate their Retard-O's for breakfast this morning, huh? TPI cars don't pull good at all above like 4,500 rpms or so, they love low rpms.

Thanks for the support, but that's still not the issue.

His car is faster than yours, despite year, make, model, price. It's faster, yours is slower. End of story. Get over it.

I know my motor is a 350, I just got it rebuilt, got bored .30 over and gots about 5k mi. on it. My tranny got 109k on it. That might be a problem that and my misfire. I never got to line up with him, he was always in front of me and it was from a roll.
I knew i was going to get beat but i just wanted to see where my car was at, and i posted it to get some input bout it.

None of my **** is tired yet.. just needs some paint touch ups.. lol But then again, plugs, wires and distributor stuff doesn't last to long with me...

always race from a dig. That is one advantage the L98 has over some newer cars (not all newer cars)... Stock L98 has 345 ft. lbs of TQ in the mid RPM range. Practice launching on a backroad or different types of pavement. Drop the airpressure before you race.

Some people cant accept defeat, or the fact that their **** dont stink...

The sooner you get over that, the sooner you can enjoy a good race for what it is.

Axle/Gears: good question...
given any thought to the possibility that the Stang was modded? Part of street racing is not knowing what your opponent realy has under his hood. Stock vs Stock an L98 in good tune will take a 99-04 Stang GT except on the top end. Ive driven an 02 GT 5spd with a catback, and wasnt too impressed with its acceleration until I went from a 70mph roll to 120.

you lose some, you win some......other people do mod theres cars, we arnt the only ones haha. I remember a few months after i bought my camaro I got some mid 90's stang to go with me. That guy put me in my place, beat me so bad left me wondering if somthing was wrong with my car.

Of course i'm sure he wasn't stock, that or i was a horrible drive (haha), anyways its sometimes nice too loose, puts you in your place, also gives you a reason to buy more

But you did race a 2000 mustang, he shoudl be faster, he could have been modded, who knows. At least your honest and post up that you lost, i know a lot of guys that hide in shame and never admit to a loss.

I dont know about that. A well driven 99+ Gt should run low low 14s or high 13s (seen a lot of my friends do it). The L98 will take it out of the hole, but around the 1/8 mile the GT should come by and beat it by a bit in the 1/4 mile.

Also to note do NOT be fooled into thinking a car is slow because of how smooth the power comes on. An LS1 will "feel" slower than an L98 or LT1 car, but we all know just how much faster they really are. Cars with broad smooth torque curves will have a slower SOTP feel, but could very easily be much faster cars.

i haven't been put in my place yet. I choose my races wisely and want a good match-up. There is always the surprise factor too. In my little town the surprise factor is low...

If you were right behind him and he still pulled 3 cars on you I'll say he had some mods done. If he had exhaust and gears w/ a manual then you went from a roll no wonder you got raped! A stock 700R4 REALLY REALLY SUCKS from a roll. Do yourself a favor and save up for a built one thats track ready.
When I got mind it shifted hard and could really put it to the ground at any speed.

Definetly believable if he had full exhaust/gears maybe some other small stuff.

Stock for stock an L98 and the 4.6 sohc 99-04 motor is pretty close, however the GT is going to have a big advantage on the top end with it's superior intake, not to mention it peaks with 20 more horsepower only lending to it's top end advantage. If he was modded, the top end advantage would be even worse.

Those mustangs are slow, but L98s aren't exactly the best platform either being very dated. Good run though!

We've never had a shortage of retards here

For the record, I'm no mustang fan, but most any '00+ GT will spank 90% of the board members cars. They're faster cars, with a broader rpm range, wider sticker tires, better transmissions, and they hook. Folks need to get over it.

tpi's are good for 3 things

making the craziest power/torque curve i have ever seen
Brakestands
raping hondas from a dig (typical guys that don't know what thier doing, not those turbo vtec car stu)
I know a guy running 6 psi on a stock 97 civic and put down 244rwhp. He has masters in computer something rather and know how to tune very nicely. I have him learning tpi proms as we speak so he can tune mine :-)
