Just my luck, just now (10 minutes ago or so) I went to the store and to get a bite to eat. I got doen at the store and as I pull to the light, lord and behold I see four round headlights in front of me. I then noticed that my light turned red, whihc meant his left arrow light was green, so I quickly turned right at the light. Well now we are on same road and he passes me (15-20 nph), then I speed up a little to get beside and ride along side him...he gives it a little gas so i knew it was a go. this time I am on four lane road side by side with the mustang, unlike bfore where we were on a two lane road. Anyways we are at about 35-40 mph and I see his front end lift, so I punch it....I jump him then I hear his revving up and he barely pulls his door at m fender from there it went the same as it did the last one I raced:
70-90 I got up beside him
90-110 I pulled about 2 cars
At this point we approach a slight turn, so I lift thinking he would. Well he didn't as matter of fact he dipped to the other two lanes, to give us both room in the turn (as I lifted he passed me). SO I was like ok he wants to race through the turn, so I start slowing getting on it again as I start passing him in middle of the turn....it was awesome feeling to be side by side over 100mph going around that turn. Anyways a long straight away was after the turn and the rest of the race was like this:
Back to about 105 coming out of turn, my door was at his fender
105-120 I pulled about 3 31/2 cars
120-130 Another maybe 2 cars
130-145 He flashed his lights to let me know he gave up.........lol
So I am happy now, cause to me that was legitament race, although not from a dig...which I would spin allot anyways, but it was a better race than before when we were on the two lane road. Man talk about adrenaline rush....woohoo!!!! I won't even sleep tonight, I want to go AGIN!!!!!.........lol

no, I have not done any of those mods....if I had then it would have been worse. My car is still stock right now.

Wow, I'd have to say that guy sucks at racing to get beat that bad by a TPI on the top end, good kill though strong running car it sounds like

ok....lol. A new Mustang GT should walk all over any stock L98 car. With a good driver they run mid 13's. 90-92 L98s are usually in the mid 14's. Also those new GTs shine on the top end, where as tpi sucks on the top end. So either this guy had no idea how to race, or you ran a v6.

Glad you know everything about cars and glad you were there to see the race. So basically you are telling me I am lying or that I am an extreme idiot and do not know what I raced. Well I will tell you this once......I know it was a GT...maybe it was the four round headlights or the fact that it had a big GT on the fender that gave it away or the dual exhaust or the V8 sound....hmmmm I don't know. And this is the second one I have beat, and both of them I pulled once we reached 80 mph and up. I am as suprised as many others are, but I know for a fact it was a GT and he was racing the whole time, and I also know......as I have said many times....my car is fast as heck for it to be stock. If you do not wish to believe, then move on to another race story, cause this is exactly how it happened. For that matter I almost beat a WRX AWD (modified), he got me with his door at my fender, but again around 80 mph I started to pull by him and he let off.......twice. I had a passeneger in my car as well. I have also beat an LT1 (AT) Z28 and have beat several other mustangs....differant years. Either way I am very satisfied with this car, and for all I know it may not be stock, but I have not done anything to it other than what I listed. Laugh all you want, but what I said happened....happened.

lol...ok 89 you have a point, but in my defense it was a new road that was just built....no traffic and straight for about a mile (after the turn) no traffic and way out in boonies, before the road was complete, we used to use this road to race. People still do it now, late at night. Anyways good point.

It is still hard to believe that you beat a new gt after 80 that car should have walked you easy after that. That is if your engine is still stock because the mods that you have should put you in the high 13's maybe mid.
That new GT makes all its power up top, you an everybody on this forum knows that the L98 starts to shut down at 5000 rpms. I'm not saying you didn't do it but just maybe your car has more mods than your aware of.

it may have more mods that I know of, I am like the fourth owner, so i could not tell you that. I do know it doesn't even have the smaller crank pully or anything like that. I am pulling the Smog pump off this weekend, that may add more, but it locks up sometimes and makes my bult squeeks....which is real reason I am taking it off. I am hoping that it could be causing drag on my engine and taking it off will only improve the performance.

To beat him that bad you'd have to be trapping 108+ and there's no way you're doing that with a stock L98 TPI car.

FYI.
The new pony package on the 06 mustangs gives the V6 car 4 headlights and fake dual mufflers out of the back of the car.
BTW. My dads 74 pinto station wagon put 2 fenders on a F1 car. Seriously I swear I even had 4 passengers with me.

It does sound hard to believe, but Im sure there are lots of cars out there that shouldnt win, yet do!
Personally I know exactly what a new GT will pull like, and I can say that at a crappy track, on a hot day, with two passengers they will trap over 100 mph (that drivers ONLY pass on the car as well). I can see a thirdgen easily being made faster than one but can also see why people claim this cant really happen.
Get some track numbers and everything can be solved by that!

in your sig, it says that your car has the slp package. r u saying that this car is a firehawk? either way, its still pretty awesome that u beat a new mustang.
no it is not a firehawk, but yes it has the SLP pakage from the dealer. As I have said before with teh SLP package, it shows that it should be running with 290hp and 360+ lbs of torque. 1/4 mile is 14.08 @ 98. someyhing MPH. That is what the magazine says an SLP packaged TA runs. I only have a few other mods done....like exhaust and such, so I am not sure what that would make me running at, but at same time just with that listed above....it is close to a 13 second car and maybe with my mods....I am a 13 second car...I do not know. As I said I will go to the track around here, but it is only 1/8 mile. I love it when people can not believe, cause to tell you the truth I can not believe it either, but this is the second one I have beat, but the first one was behind me and tried to go around me and failed...so I did not even count that as a race, as matter of fact that guy pulled in my driveway and we talked afterwards and he wanted to knwo what I had done to my car....when I told him it was stock with over 100k....he couldn't believe it. So this is not the first one I beat, and I am sure will not be the last. Either way I am beating cars that I should not be able to beat, and I love this car for that.......lol

yeah 3" exhaust and no cats would add some more horsepower. Sounds like you have a silent beast running i.e close to stock but magically fast.
ok I know this still isnt an actual track time, but I just got back from a street we race on at times. On this street there is a start ine and a finish line. It was walked off with a measuring wheel to insure a 1/4 mile....again I know this is street but I just want to know about where I would be. I had a freind of mine meet me with his Honda S200 (modified) and his best run is a 13.62 (going by his words). We raced 5 times and every time we would be head to head for the first 1/8 mile, then I would pull about an average of 1.5-3 cars on him past that. All 5 times, the same result. I also had a guy on the finish line with stop watch (again I know this is street) and the times were consitantly in 13.3-13.5 range. As I have said before I will go to the local 1/8 mile track here and get an actual time, eventually I will drive all the way out to the 1/4 mile track and get times. If indeed I am in that area with m tims, I would have to quit saying my car is stock, cause there would have had to have been something done to it to be that fast.....other than SLP and exhaust........I would guess. Or could the SLP package and Exhaust open it up that much? Heck I don't know, but as I have said many man y times..........it is fast for a 91 TA with 152k on it.

The new Mustangs are barely quicker than the 2V 99-04s. I'd say about two tenths on average, if that. They are PCM nannied so much the extra 40 HP doesn't feel there.

no one has said you won't beat a new mustang in the 1\4 or 1\8 we are just saying that its hard to belive that your are beating them that bad in the top end without the other guy getting out of it
I am wondering where people are getting there times from. Every website or magazine I see has the 06 GT running 13.9 @ 100 mph. I have yet to see where a stock GT is running in mid to low 13's. I have however seen the Rousch & Saleen (of course) running much much faster times, but no specs on a stock GT (from C & D or HR mags, or websites....Ford websites) do I see anything faster than a 13.9. So in seeing that, I can see why I have beat two of them.
On top end, I tell you now my car is wierd, cause when it reaches 80 it sits back and climbs almost as fast as it does 0-60. I have never ever had a TPI car do that. Any race I have been in where it was close race up to 80, I would start pulling between 80-100.......I have noticed that and my friends (also with L98 cars) also have noticed that, but hell I am not going to complain. Besides you say top end, I would be doing right at 100 or so in the 1/4 anyways, so from 80-100 I pull hard for some odd reason, but that would still be in a 1/4 mile race....so why would you consider that top end? I can beat them in 1/4, but not top end.......sounds contradictary. Besides I am sure after I was pulling on him, he didn't want to keep pushing his new car and lifted....after all what would be the point. If someone was pulling me that hard and I had no chance, I wouldn't keep pushing my car for know reason. Anyways I understand what all of you doubters are saying, but this is my 5th TPI car to have. you cant go by what the mags say in your first post you are talking about a race longer then a track race which the stang should be faster in a true race at the track i think it would be a good race

by any chance did the 00-02 GT mustangs get a package to make the V6s look like the V8's? i raced an auto one the other day with my LO3 and somehow edged him about by about 2 cars. it had the dual exhaust and all too.

Like I said ours ran that exact 13.9 @ 100, with TWO people in the car, in hot weather at higher elevation on the drivers first pass, and a heavier than stock hood. My car in those typical conditions would have easily been 3-4 tenths slower without question (calculator also said 13.6 in better conditions).
Ours should be mid 13s come cool weather, and some more seat time (my brother who has never drag raced before went 14.1 in it)!
