lo3 or l98 vs cyclone

allright first of all a buddy at school bought a cyclone motor and put it in his s10 so he doesnt have all wheel drive he also claims its 30 over and some other things that i dont believe to be true but say its stock for this. my lo3 isnt much but i have exhaust 1.6 roller rockers, before i race him im putting a 3.42 posi in it too, open air element suspension and sway bars (id telll you bought my brother put them on before i bought them and he moved so next time i talk to him i can ask) and thats it. Also how bout a l98 out of a 92 trans am with everthing i posted for my car. oh and both cars are manuals mine has a dual friction center force and his im not sure about but i know its not the stock one

by the way he is claiming 580+ horses "from everything that he has done" and others are saying stock its 300+

what size is the cyclone motor. They made a 3.8 turbo motor, and a 4.3l turbo motor. Either way the s10 is gonna own u royally on the top end

Sorry man but if it is even a stock cyclone motor it will smoke you!!! As for 580+hp its possible but I doubt it unless his daddy is paying for it.My freinds GN has some work done to it and he is making about 550hp I doubt a little high school kid has that much power but it could happen.A l98 with those mods probably would not win either.

At best your running 15.5. At worst if it is a turbo motor he is running 14.5. I don't see how you can beat him with out serious mods with a 305TBI. Your best bet is a 350 or 100-150 shot of spray. I don't see any other way unless you put a serious cam and heads on the car.

u probably get him off the line for a split second. In order to beat a stock or mildy modded cyclone, u need heads/cam 350 and for extra security 100 shot

cyclones and typhoons DID NOT come with the turbo 3.8. that was in the buicks and TTA only. all the turboed trucks had the 4.3 V6

BTW- the L03 doesnt stand a chance, and if the motor swap was done right, the L98 probably wouldnt win either

hmm good to know. I always assume that the older models came with the 3.8 and the newer model came with the 4.3.

Yep 4.3. It was not a 3.8 and they were rated at 280hp and 360tq but I think they might be underestimated just like the Gn and tta.300+is my guess.

They're fast, if he can get the RWD truck to launch it will be faster than the AWD models. Get nitrous or don't run this one unless his truck's coughing and hacking. If you do go to the squeeze you better jet high. The Cyclones and Typhoons are some serious vehicles and at this point in the game I doubt there are many of them left stock. There is an up side though, if you can hide the spray and beat him he'll have a hard time living down the 580hp he's been claiming.
