357vortec bird vs 2000ish mustang Gt

well i was on my way to my friends to get my party on, when all of the sudden i notice a mustang i would say 2000ish v8 with a roush body kit pretty red 2tone black roofline paint job and amazing unholy sound to it. also had some big ole' tires on the back with a gauge pod on it so i figured i would get creamed. well i pull up next to him and he notices my car and starts giving some gas to his. fast forward to a straight away with no people.
Line up. I give him the jump to start the race. started in 2nd @40mph bout 3500rpms (sweet spot), we are even, i hit 3rd :chirp: and begin to pull away, i shut down at about 90mph. ending was.
............(me..] .................
..........................[him..]....................

needless to say that made my night his car was hot. mine was hotter.
so basically, the gt was modified quite a bit. how much i will never know.

Im surprised at your track times! I've seen setups very similar running mid 12s, and with a little more cam in the high 11s at around 113ish. What's your altitude?

Although you mention needing a new distributor so perhaps that was where the problem was haha

nice kill

i completely agree with you, im in arizona at 1300ft with sucky air and gas. most ls1's i see are running in the 100-102range. that 99mph was before some things so who knows, i raced my friend a month ago and he was running a 13.2 at 106mph in his talon, and we are dead even from a roll so who knows.

ah, that explains things. your setup should easily beat an LS1 car, at least from what I've seen locally.

yea, i've raced my coworker with a 99ls1 transam manual with full exhaust computer tune intake and some suspension mods. we went from a 20mph roll to about 70. he was at my bumper and i was pulling still, quite the exciting race.

Yeah it might have been a better race if the other guy was racing too!

their is a roush kit with a naturally aspirated motor, the 4.6 ford sucks, unless it is in a 03-04 cobra.

fun though eh, i guess you would have heard the wine of a supercharger.

So the low 13 second (bone stock) 03-04 Mach 1s suck? They run right with the LS1 cars so long as the driver isnt a moron. As a matter of fact a guy on one of the boards let his 16 year old daughter run their stock Mach, and she went 13.1! The 99-01 Cobras were slightly slower than the Machs but still run well into the 13s, and same thing with the 96-98 Cobras. The new 3V GTs have been into the mid 13s bone stock, and although not too special, with the regular bolt ons and tires they run deep 12s! The 4.6 isnt a bad motor at all, and evene GM uses or used a 4.6 OHC motor for years and years!

No wonder your beat him... from a roll. Your 60' times are embarrassing

Nice kill. Get some gear/tires and step up the timing.

yea.....and a t5 -> t56..... so that means i added an extra gear to the existing transmission too.

i know my 60' is horrible i was on bald tires, i actually pulled better 60's with the v6 engine so yea my fault. from a roll was just a power race, thats all. and i wasnt saying anything otherwise.
