Another mustang!!!

We were both at wawa and pulled out at the same time and stopped at the light. I wasnt sure if he wanted to go but then he started to rev it up and the light turned, we were pretty even off the line and by 60 i almost had a full car on him but then he started to gain and by the time he reached me we were goin way to fast for public roads so i let off. We were dead even at the end but if we went an longer he would have got me, we stopped at around 95. Not bad for a 20 year old car! Oh and by the way ive got an 87 lb9 auto and he had a 2000 gt. I know the lb9s horses are pretty low but the torque definetly makes up for it. I love just puttin the pedal to the floor so my *** flies back in the seat, it makes me forget about everything else in the world. YA BITCH!!!

You got really lucky you caught a bad driver. You have a mayyybe high 14 second car against a lower 14 high 13 second car. Congrats on the win, but he should have walked you if he could drive!

Im pretty sure he was an auto, and dont mean to argue but are you sure about that because i beat a 96 gt by at least a car and a half last week from a dig and i saw a 03 get beat by a stock l98 by a good 2 cars. I think its just the low end power of the tpi cause its got all that torque. I know if we went from a roll that would have been a completly different story.

Im pretty sure I know what Mustangs will run...

A 96 GT (NPI 4.6) is a high 14 low 15 second car, with an auto slower. The 99+ GTs (PI 4.6) even with an auto should be lower 14s.

Your assuming a good driver. FYI most highschool kids n the street with a stock mustangs cant drive worth a damn.

Most close to stock 00 stangs are mid-high 14's range...

Hmm I guess I was lucky, I went 13.0 with a stock motor and bolt ons in High School (Imagine if I could drive). Also you said auto, which means floor it and run mid to low 14s (at least thats what most of the people around here seem to do).

I did not buy a thirdgen for the simple fact I couldnt afford to go fast in one. Too much money to run 12s for me to even try!

PS: I ALWAYS assume good driver, because I dont race with poor drivers. I race in leagues, and classes and we dont really have crappy drivers show up to each race. If you cant slam gears get off the race track! Not only that but why assume apoor driver before a race? Assume the worst hope for the best, if you dont do this your going to be surprised the first time a high 14 second 01 GT, runs a 13.5 on you, because you assumed he didnt know what he was doing!

Re: Another mustang!!!

All GT's the 4.6 215hp 4.6 225hp and even the 4.6 260hp cars are a joke off the factory floor.Sure with a few mods the 260hp gt can be a solid 13 second car but between the 5.0 and the new 4.6 300hp GT they were all slow and could not even hold to a stock LT-1 and some stock L98's for that matter. The new GT's I have alot more respect for but from 96-04 ford went in the wrong direction, they should have run a higher output 5.0 for the gt or even a 5.4. I never take 5.0's for granted. There light and make good power with some mods.I almost forgot because I was having so much fun bashing the 96-04 gts. 25thmustang is right. If you are stock you got lucky.Low 14s are common for 5spd 01 gts.

with evan smith driving

NPIS are anywhere from very high 14s to high 15s, ive taken auto NPI verst in my 02 v6 vert auto

PIs run low to mid 14s,

im pretty sure i knwo what mustangs run to, im a bigger mustang fan then camaro fan, along wtih almost 10k posts on mustangfourms.com,

most s197s run high 13s, except for one guy i can think of who got a 13.4 out of it

an 01 bullit might get high 13s, a mach 1 can get low 13s, terminators mid to high 12s

99-04 GTs will rape 5.0s, 5.0s are good for NA buildups below 450 HP, the stock E7 heads are some of the best boat anchors out there as well, a stock PI and an LT1 is generally a drivers race, and an LS1 and a mach 1/NA cobra is a drivers race, i agree on the motor though, they should of developed a 340 c.i V-8 bassed off the 4.2 essex V-6 (like what dodge did for the 3.9//4.7) and run a set of forged pistons, 400 HP from the factory and a motor from the factory that could survive 1000 HP sounds wonderful, to bad ford never went this route

Re: Another mustang!!!

Trust me posting on a web forum is one thing, but how many NMRA, FFW, etc... events have you been to/run in! I race with Mustangs and used to do so on a weekly basis. I have seen fast and slow ones, but in that wide spectrum I know what they SHOULD run. And Evan Smith is a good driver, but to think there arent Evan Smiths out there at local events would be ignorance.

E7s do make good boat anchors, or decent mid 12 second heads, either or!

Re: Another mustang!!!

I just think its sad for the GT in those years against the 4thgen camaros. Just think about it.I know it was only one year but in 98 the ss was running 320hp and the GT was 225hp!!!!!!Low 15- high 14s GT and a solid mid 13s camaro right of the factory floor. What is even more amazing is that the Mustang still outsold the Camaro that year and if I remember right almost every if not every year in the 90s.

Re: Another mustang!!!

Thats the only reason the Mustang was not faster, it didnt need to be. Why would Ford reengineer a car and make it faster when it outsold the competition by a ton. I dont agree with this, but its what happened...

I am at a lot of Ford races, and when Im not racing at a few I do tech, and run the scales for a class or two! I am also an inside guy if we feel someone is cheating, I get to go feel it out and see! Pays being younger and acting dumb about stuff!

Come to an all Ford race, there are lots of Evan Smith quality drivers out there! Over half out regulars can slam gears like him!
