Re: 07 mustang gt

you must got some nice mods because those mustang are fair from a roll and tpis suck from rolls. And more then likely he took that fly by as a kill so you better get a kill from a dig to shut him up. As for mods let the tpi breath more.I got some slp runners and the ported base and it pulls al the way to about 5500. Or you can upgrade the injectors and fuel pump and adjust the fuel pressure to about 50lb and destory him with a 125 shot like I do

Well thats just it, Older and Cheaper. Hell a fox body for $2000 will knock one down, but its still older, cheaper, more miles, no warrenty, etc... There is more to a car and it being a bargan then just how fast it goes. With that said mid 13s, mid $20Ks and after having driven them a good amount (there is one parked next to mine in the garage) I can say they feel sooo much better then an LT1 does!

You must have a decent set up to be taking it from a roll. Nice work!

Re: 07 mustang gt

I just that after all these years of research and development they should try to make a faster mustang.I mean they went from the fast fox bodies to the slower 4.6's.then went to the new mustangs which are only as fast as the old 5.0's if not slower.Wherea's chevy went from the tpi to the faster lt1 to the faster ls1.All the while staying at the same price range as the mustang.Yet still everyone and their sister buys a mustang.

The new GT's are mid to high 13's correct? That's faster than a stock 5.0 and most likely a stock LT1. I'm sure a race between a stock LT1 and a stock new GT would be close. But if the GT could drive I'd give the edge to him. Sorry, kind of offtopic there.

Re: 07 mustang gt

Ok...I'm no big Ford Mustang fan at all..Back in High School in the late 80's the LX 5.0 boys use to talk so much trash about how fast their cars were..until my 79 Z28 whooped on them bad, but it was lightly built 400 sm block. Actually with so much trash talk I started not to like that body style at all ( 83-93 Mustangs) LX 5.0's 89-92 with 225hp only ran 0-60 6.4 sec and 1/4 14.9 . In 94-95 with 5.0 it ran 6.9 sec 0-60. And when they went to the 4.6 the GT's 6.9 sec to 7.0 sec 0-60. In 1999 they upped the HP and went 0-60 5.8 sec. This brings us to the 06 GT which ran 0-60 in 5.1 sec. My point is Ford did do better as time went on, they just did it slower than the Camaro did. And I'm only talking about GT's not Cobras or Saleens or Roushs. And the reason that must people liked the Mustang was that fact it was cheaper than the Camaro and Firebird. The upright seating and a little bigger rear seat area with a smaller body. The long hood and low seating didn't please some customers looking at the Camaro. I liked the long hood and low seating because I'm 6'2 so it was a perfect fit. That guy in the GT has good power I would race him from a dig at the track, that from a roll is soooo ***** ,he probably owned one before he got the GT . Back in the day we raced from a dig that showed who had a good set up. I think you might edge him by a nose.

Ohh boy, magazine racers!

Mid 13s shouldnt be too hard with a good driver in a new GT. The average LT1 should be close... Your right though Ford should have learned from the Fbody, afterall the Fbody sold so well, what was Ford thinking? Why make the car faster when Ford didnt need to to sell a TON more and keep the car going, where the Fbody was canned? Manufacterers as much as youd like to think so dont really care about making the car the fastest, they care about selling them.

The 14.9 fox body thing is a joke. Our stock 91 was low 14s bone stock, at a so so track!

I will say racing from a dig is a much better way to prove a car, and the driver!

Ford and GM dont really give a damn about whos fastest in the 1/4 mile what they really care about is whos fastest off the lot, obviously ford got it right.

dont blame gm for Americans being dum. yes dum i mean the gto price was loward to 31,000 new 400hp and 400ft.lbs handle like a monster brake like it was power by zero point energy and still didnt sell anywhere near as good as the mustang.

ford makes cars that sell. gm makes cars that kicka$$

Not so much these days. Apparently they didn't learn much from GM and it's stupid ideas about making entry level performance cars with more than 205 hp during the mid 90s.

Re: 07 mustang gt

The only reason a new mustang would beat an lt1 camaro is because of all the wear on the much older camaro. a car that is 12 years older.my point is that it took ford 12 years to make a car tht is comparable in performance to the camaro. And yes ford should have learned from chevy ,chevy stuck with the proven push rod cam in block layout and refined it to the point where it is todaythe ls1.Making a ton of power while remaining cost effective and giving great fuel mileage.

As far as them only caring about what sells the most i thought this was the racing section of the board? If that was what determined what i bought i would own a toyota camry not a camaro.

Re: 07 mustang gt

I love the Ford haters... FORD the company doesnt give a rats a$$ about 1/4 mile numebrs, because they make GM look dumb in the pony car market. The Fbody is gone, the GTO doesnt sell well and isnt even an American car. I agree the Fbody was faster, I dont dispute facts, but the fact is FORD doesnt care. Why over design a car when you can sell one that doesnt need to have 350 hp, and run 12s. GM tried surviving on the power and performance and lost, end of that story according to Ford...

Now I will say Ford cant sell anything else, the rest of their cars suck, but the Mustang has been doing something right in its market. Knock it all you want, it sells and because of that there will always be fast ones out there...

With all that said, I fight sales to EXPLAIN why the Mustang is how it is. MY 5.0 vs YOUR Fbody (1989Iroczaz) Im pretty sure I would trash you, so with that said Id go grab a Camry, youd still lose but get better mileage and have a better quality car! Defend more cars you dont own, yet are faster than you, it really is working, I am definately seeing the light and will sell my mid 12 second fox body for an LT1 tonight!

"the GTO doesnt sell well and isnt even an American car"

Its made in a GM plante in Australia its still GM . So your saying Nissans are not Japanese becasue we make them in Nashville Tennessee? So i guess you really like those Mexican cars huh? by what your saying Mustangs are mexican because most are made at the plante in Hermosillo, Mexico .

when the only good thing you can say about a car is that it sells. i dont count that as a win. Ill take quality over quantity anyday.Thats what makes me a camaro owner.by what your saying a car can be better in everyway but if it does not sell better its not a good car? also i know you have been a t this site for ever but you could have chose a better palce to preech how great mustangs are.i figured out how good they are all last summer in a stock ls1 car.

heres a video of that stock ls1

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfZ0KGGAa34

the last car in the vid had a off raod x-pipe and a 100 shot Speedtech NX set-up.

Re: 07 mustang gt

I am telling YOU why Ford does what they do. I am not telling you why I own one, I DONT own a new Mustang, and dont have any plans to. I am not preeching which is better, I am preaching why the Mustang isnt as fast as the Fbody was (if youd pull your head out of your a$$ could clearly read that). The GTO has been a an Australian Holden for a good long time, GM took it, brought it here and tried to sell it. That to me is not designing an American car that they want to compete with the Mustang, thats taking a car the company had and trying to get it here and take over a market. It didnt work, so they are going to have to bring the Fbody back. Hopefully they wont go take a car that has already been around for 5 years, and slap a Camaro badge on it.

You really think showing me videos of what Fbodies can do is proving anything to me. Heres a thought, i alreadt KNOW how fast LS1s are. I have a lot of friends with them. I know what they can do, I know how fast they can go. If you own a thirdgen, yet preech about LS1s, and start talking about who "wins" then idk what to tell you. You can go all day with this debate, and think you win, or I win, I personally dont care, everyone has an opinion. I dont own an LS1, or a thirdgen, and I come here because without me, you guys would be claiming foxs are 15 second cars, new GTs are 14 second cars, and Cobras run mid 13s, because of biased opinions. If you want to belong to a site that doesnt have any other car owners on it, I really feel bad for you. The only time your going to suffer is when you dont know your facts and you go out into the REAL world (not the thirdgen, Fbody internet world)and run into these cars with people who know what they have and know how to drive them.

Bur Keep thinking you somehow won... Ford doesnt agree, and I dont care,

so maybe you did win?

i own three 3rd gens a ls1 98 z28 and a supercharged lt1 6sp lt1 . the 90 irocz will be this years video .i was compareing a newer car to a new car.the holden monro started the same year as the gto it was not out before.dont tell me to pull my head out of my *** just becasue u know im right.even a fox 5.0 gt cant beat a l98 3rd gen stock for stock.ford makes a lower grade car every year that sales better i guess u win darn my life is over.

Re: 07 mustang gt

I dont know what all this winning is about, if you really care this much about internet battles to consider something a win, get a life! Compare whatever you want, pick whatever winner you want, in YOUR mind and with YOUR opinion, whatever you want will win. You keep on winning WHATEVER it is here your winning, and feel good about it. Go to your friends and family and tell them you won, and I am sure they will praise you!!! Congrats on the "win".

Now as far as what your fighting about, I am telling you this ONE more time, I know how fast the LS1, LT1 and new Mustangs are, but I am also telling you WHY they are this fast. Ford doesnt want to make it faster, they dont need to, the Fbody is gone for now. If you could "win" (theres that term again, only this time it makes sense) a race (sales race b/w GM and Ford for the simple minded) without too much effort, wouldnt you do it? Why create something so much better when you can win with a lot less. Thats why Ford didnt make the GT a 12 second LS1 killer, they didnt need to! This is the argument, if you can understand what I am saying then Im not sure what to tell you.

Right a 5.0 GT might lose to a 350 TPI car, but why not mention the 5.0 LX of which there were probably as many if not more than 350 TPI cars. The thousands and thousands of 1987-1993 5.0 LX cars that WONT lose to a 350 TPI? Right, dont mention them, they arent really there, they dont exist, and yet again you "win".

Oh well, ignorance is bliss sometimes!

Really don't care for where this post went but it got me thinking. I agree that a lx will beat a l98... as long as the lx was a stick. Might have been a different story IF the l98 was a stick as well.

O well, that's what the aftermarket is for.

Bottom line, whoever crosses the finish line first, wins.

Back to the subject, nice kill. If quick and easy is what you want, spray is the way. How else can you bolt on 100hp in 3 hours? Just make sure your fuel system is up to par. Good luck.

What Fast is trying to say which I think isn't coming across because some people are retarded, is:

-car companies just want to sell cars.
Nothing else. Ford doesn't care at all how fast a Camaro is. They just want to sell as many cars as they can so as to make money. Bottom Line.

And it's been working.

I think one thing people forget is that ALL CARS CAN BE MADE FAST. You will only be as fast as you pay for it to be.

FWIW 05+ mustangs cut some pretty nasty 60' times bone stock. From a dig it would be equally as hard to take one.

Are you SURE it was fast trying to say that, because when I go back and read, it sure looks like this is what I am saying to him! Maybe I cant read, but I think thats whats going on here...

Also to note, the new GTs will 60' well. I think its because of the huge amount of weight transfer they get. The nose comes way up and *** end goes way down under throttle. This can also happen in reverse if you dont know how to shift them (which accounts for lost time from not so good drivers), but on a fast easy powershift (easy cars to drive, 5x as easy with a shifter) the nose wont go anywhere, the tires spin (a good amount into second, little into 3rd) and the car heads down the track (or street). A good driver is the best mod for these cars!
