ok everyone, first off my car isnt even running yet, but i already have three people who want to race me once i get my engine swap finished, one of which i had already posted in this forum.. an 03-04 mustang 4.6L stick shift stock, the next person to want to race me is a late 86 or 87 toyota supra i believe with the inline 6, the kid keeps telling me hes gonna whoop on me, but the thing is he keeps telling me hes running non turbo.. so i dunno if hes trying to hide something and trick me or some crap like that.. the third person who wants to race me is actually my boss... heh heh

he drives a 90's style t-bird with the 4.6L, hes did a lot of bolt on stuff to it, and hes got a built trans and 3.73 gears, but its an auto.. so i dunno.

what do you guys think? do you think that these guys will all walk over me? im not talking any crap back to these guys cuz i dont even know what to expect outta my car.

 

well first of all, we have absolutely no idea what you are swapping into the camaro.. if you can run mid 13's the stang will be no problem and the supra.. not sure of the t-bird.. alot of bolt ons could be anywhere from just a filter and exhaust to intake manifold, tune, headers, etc..

 

I want to race you as well, come on down to VA this summer.

 

sorry.. im going from the 2.8L to a 350 L98, its got stock internals, high flow oil pump, carter mechanical fuel pump, as of right now a q-jet intake and carb, but later on in the summer edelbrock intake and holley carb, accel style distributor, 700r4 trans running 3.23 open diff in the back.. stock exhaust manifolds and cat, and thats about it.. hopefully by mid summer i can be running some nice headers and a better intake and carb setup.

 

Get rid of the open diff asap, the gears will be ok but if possible steepen them up, 3.42 or 3.73 will work great for a carb L98. You're killing the car with the stock manifolds and cats. I'm not exactly sure what youre asking, if you should be able to beat these people then the answer is a defenative who knows. With the setup you listed I'de say you'll have some serious trouble keeping up. With the mods you've listed you should be on par.

 

If the mustang can drive he'll beat you.

All that work for a motor swap, and you're going to keep the junk manifolds on there? I'd swap those long before I ditched the Qjet for an alternate. Good headers and exhaust are gonna make or break that combo, I'd worry about doing that long before I worried about doing the gears.

 

yeah i know what you mean.. there are cirumstances that i havent really told you guys about, and thats why i had to comprimise with a few things, but by the end of summer this thing should be sitting the way i want it to.. also an update on the car.. got everything done to it besides the fuel lines to the mechanical fuel pump, the transmission cooling lines, the throttle cable and carb.. other than that, i should be able to fire her up..

 

The stang will beat you and the Tbird will give you a damn good run and probably win too.

 

well got the car running, plans changed again, for right now im running open shorty heddman hedders, soon to be some sort of exhaust on there.. but no stock manifolds anymore...

first test drive scheduled for friday.. wish me luck.. whaddua guys think.. put up a decent fight with a better exhaust setup?

 

It'll certainly make better use of the other breathing mods, you only flow as good as your worst bottleneck, and stock manifolds were it, now its the heads/cam.... it never stops, but it is fun.

anyways.. thought i'd let ya'll know whats up..

after putting the car back together last summer.. came to find out that the trans that i put in was a total piece of crap, wouldnt do anything. so i kinda just took a break on the whole project, about two weeks ago, i put in another 700r4 and finally got to drive the car.

its got those headman shorty headers and matching ypipe on it, with a flowmaster 40 series.

intake and carb at this point are still the qjet style, but thats soon to change as soon as my holley 4bbl 600 cfm carb shows up.

the only thing i really need to do now is fix a busted break line.. gotta find it first tho.. after that.. i should be out having some fun... wish me luck

On a serious note, what do you run in that beast?

 

its a 357"sbc with afr210 eleminator heads, 8.4:1 je pistons, and a csu e85 blow through carb. t88 turbo but its actually a bigger than 88mm wheel in the 88mm housing. shhhh. dont tell anyone. with a tial v60 gate, and extreme velocity pro series bonnet.
the motor is built and ready to go in the car. its already broken in my s10 so i know its ready to rock.

the car is not evan finished yet. i was just playing arround too.
but it will be over 1000 hp and my daily driver. on nice days of course.
ive yet to decide how much street and how much race i want.
to use the power at its ability. i need a certified 8.50 car at least.
so im thinking of tubbing it with the ed quay 4 link back half kit.
i also like the small tire thing. but with a th 400 and a brake i could come out way harder with a big tire and 4 link. or i could leave with no brake and just run the smaller 28x11.5 tire.

the kid with the mustang, I don't talk to him anymore.. he was actually friends with my ex, so who cares anymore...

the guy with the supra crashed it, so no biggie there..

and the guy with the tbird was gonna race me when i got my car going, but i seized up my engine.. so thats not gonna happen for awhile, funny thing about this guy is, i told him i'd race him in my cobalt, and he keeps making up excuses.. sounds scared.

oh well, maybe someday.. when my camaro runs.. and is reliable.. ill take it to the strip.. and race...
