Re: GTP vs IROC-Z

I thought they ran high 14's even low 15's stock? Plus its 330 lbs of tq to 280? Looking online we both weigh the same, why shouldn't I smoke that bitch?

Re: GTP vs IROC-Z

most 3800 cars can run low 15's stock. I've seen stock GTP's run mid to high 14's. It will be close but I think the GTP will pull you on the topend

Re: GTP vs IROC-Z

Several years back, I worked with a guy who had a GTP, he'd added a smaller pulley, & probably some other stuff to it. I had my headers & most of the free mods, I think that was about it. We went from around 30 to 60 or so, & he walked me good...

Re: GTP vs IROC-Z

there was one at the dragstrip last weekend. It ran a 9.9 in the 1/8th. Had CAI only. You should take it I ran a 9.4 in my 89 GTA with only a cat-back exhaust. but I also have ran a 9.9 even a 10 in my GTA so it might be close depending on traction and the tune of your car but you SHOULD get him

That is the key question! L98 should be no problem, the G92 305 should be a good race, the peanut cam 305 better only try from a dig, and get a good holeshot. My mild LG4 will just beat the newest GTPs for a dig, those are the 260hp version of the 3800v6, I've seen those run 14.9 on down to 14.7 w/ 93mph trap speeds. From a roll we just neck and neck. The older GTPs, such as the 97 you mention, are a bit slower. A pulley is all it takes to change all that...

Re: GTP vs IROC-Z

I raced one in my 90 305 Bird from a dig and the way that GTP just left me was very shameful. I was absolutely killed by the GTP, but it was a newer than 2000 GTP, I think around an 03 model. I had just killed a 5.0 mustang when the chick in the GTP put me in my place. It was a day that was looking up and then turned into a bad day. I'm not sure about the older GTP's but I know with the newer ones you would be having a bad day too.

I ran one at the track and it ran a 14.7.
It was a stock GTP but it was a newer one.

Re: GTP vs IROC-Z

I have a 99 Regal GS which has the same motor as the GTP. They should run around 15 stock but closer to 15.5. They are not that fast it will probably depend on how good of shape each is in since they both probably have a lot of miles. I would not worry about his mods they wont help him much, 5-10 hp maybe.
