Gentlemen...what you are about to hear is unbelieveable, saddening, sickening and just plain wrong. I live in New Jersey in Ocean County on the Jersey Shore (Toms River) So as you all know NJ is one of the few states were you need a front plate. And is known for Seaside Heights (Sleazeside)

My first ticket was in Seaside Heights 6/14/07
Offense: No Front Plate 53.00

Ticket 2: Wawa Parking Lot 6/15/07
I pulled into a Wawa on my way to Seaside Heights to use the bathroom. One of the common things to do out here is to hang out at Wawa parking lots since people have no lives, therefore there were no parking spaces. I pull in next to a Del Sol in a Loading Zone. I run into the bathroom and im back outside in less than 3 minutes. And there he is writing me a ticket.
Offense: Fire Zone 130.00
I went to court to fight the ticket since the officer wrote Fire Zone and not loading zone since I was parked in a Loading Zone. Apparantly the officer did me a favor by making it Fire Zone since Loading Zone was a worse offense.
Oh and BTW Im a Wawa employee as a fuel attendent at another store, so I see people parking in these spots all the time and of course never get anything for it.

Ticket 3: Seaside Heights 7/13/07
Offense: Loud Music Ordinance 200.00
Was pulled over while playing Yes's Owner of a Lonely heart while the solo was on. The sound system I have in my car is mostly stock. (havent had a chance to get a better one due to financial reasons) I have two stock speakers under the dashpad, and two pioneers in the rear panels and an Aiwa head unit.

Ticket 4 & 5: Seaside Heights 7/21/07 (When will I learn?? )

Offense:Loud Music Ordinance 200.00 (Listening to Motley Crue's Wild Side)
Offense:No Front Plate 53.00

Ticket 6: Route 37 7/30/07
Offense: Failure to observe traffic signal 85.00 plus 2 pts on Lic
I went through a yellow light while dropping her into third turning up Sammy Hagar's I cant drive 55 while punching it

Ticket 7 & 8: 8/14/07

Offense: Failure to stop at stop sign, Object obstructing view

I was doing about 15 in a residential neighborhood and approached a stop sign, stopped. while an officer was flying down the street i was stopped at waiting to make a right turn. He slammed on his brakes and I proceeded to make the turn. He turns his lights on. Comes to my car "You almost hit me!!!" "Im letting you go for the front plate, so i gave you this obstruction of view ticket instead. I have a crucifix on my rear view mirror

Another 85 and 2 more pts dont know about the obstruction ticket yet since it happened today.

All I have to say is stay off route 37 since its notorious for racing and stay out of seaside heights, its good to pick up woman but is plain not worth it

Im finally giving in and putting the front plate on.. man im goin miss that awesome CAMARO grille without the plate on it,,she looked so cool during the day with just the fogs on....

 

What you do is get some good double sided tape. Put the front plate on when your going out, and remove it at shows or whatever the case may be.

I spent some time in Seaside, on 37 and such with the Mustang, and was never hassled. I was told to watch out for loud exhaust and any speeding or wreckless driving, so needless to say I kept it sane and didn't get any tickets.

Sounds like an expensive car you have there!

or mount the it to the underside of the front damn, technically its still legal as there is no height requirements of the location of the plate.

 

I would watch out with that kind of thing, they can get you for stuff like that depending on the area! It would be better than not having one though!

 

And you hate cops because they are doing their job? Everything you did was break the law. You have nobody to blame except for yourself. Try taking a little responsibility for your actions instead of blaming the cops for doing their job.

This is a country of laws and order, You cannot blame your decisions on those people who's job it is to enforce laws. In your mind it is ok to do this and that briefly even if it means breaking the law. You need to change your perception on your decisions.

 

lol to some degree, the music to loud ticket is a bs ticket, i usually just ask the cops how many decibles is to loud, and say sorry and they let me go

Sounds like you need to put a plate on the front of your car. I always thought it was legal to roll with only the rear plate in the states but I guess this post just proves me wrong. I know its illegal here in canada to not have both plates, and in the winter you are not allowed to have anything obstructing the plates such as snow or ice or even the stuff they call "sand" which they refuse to admit is "ice melting salt mixed with sand".

 

I think he needs to get out of that area, and go somewhere with less cops and places to break laws. But hey atleast its not like where I live, the cops made the town lower the speed limits so they could get more tickets...And people be extra careful, what Ive been hearing is The State that gets the most tickets, gets a grant for their State Police from the Government.

 

You did break the law on some of those tickets but most of those tickets sound like BS to me. When cops give pointless tickets out like music being to loud they are just trying to make there quota. I would be pissed off to but then again if I were a cop I would probably do the same. Did you get a lawyer? You probably could have gotten some of those cleared. Oh and aren't you allowed to put your plate in the front windshield?

 

Where in Western MA? The one time I was pulled over wasin Western MA on my way to Lebanon Valley Dragway... I was going 68 in a 65 on the MA Pike and he nabbed me and gave me a $50 ticket. Obviousely dropped, but it was pretty annoying!

 

hey man why dont you shut your face, when i first got the car I did have the plate on and never got pulled over but i got a new grille and dident think it would really be a problem which its not ONLY IN SEASIDE,,not in my local community,,since you dont know Seaside is a PARTY TOWN on the SHORE so the cops there are litterally RENT A COPS they require 0 collage degrees at all. all they do is enroll in the police accademy so litterally any bum off the street can get a job there. i respect REAL police officers for putting there lives on the line everyday. not ones that give someone a 200 dollar sound violation while theres a drug deal happening on the street corner.i dont know how many times ive been pulled over by a local cop for a going a few over the speed limit and being let go because they just want to make sure everything is ok. and always let me go since there REAL COPS RESPECT THE BADGE AND CAN SEE THAT A TEENAGER WAS ON HIS WAY HOME FROM GOING TO IHOP AND TRYING TO GET HOME BEFORE 12

Wow, 7 tickets in two months is rough. It could be worse though, you could gotten those tickets in VA, then you'd probably be paying a couple thousand instead of a couple hundred.

Jester, nice looking ride. It sounds like most of the tickets you got were justified in this day and age. Times have changed and now the cops seem to go for the throat for everything. Whatever happened to giving someone a warning? I don`t think that happens anymore. When I was a teen in the `60`s raising hell on the streets, I rarely got tickets, usually warnings. I only got tickets if the same cop stopped me more than once a day or if I was racing 135mph in downtown Newport Beach, Ca. Yes, stupid but at 16 I did not care, just out having fun.

 

Live/work near the ghetto with all the old chevys on 20"+ and see how annoying their radios can get.

Those sound violation is BS, there is no possible way to break the sound limit with a stock system setup.
The front plate thing, well hey if you are supposed to have a front plate on your car in NJ then put it on there. Its the law, not much to argue about.

There have been lawsuits against the Seaside Police Department on how they abuse people, and civilians have actually won because its a known fact.

my very first ticket, the no front plate one,, the officer says its ok if the plate is displayed in the windshield............ok

the next day im rolling with the plate IN the windshield and i get pulled over, THE PLATE HAS TO BE DISPLAYED ON THE FRONT OF THE CAR , ITS IS NOT ALLOWED ON THE WINDSHIELD

yes i still have my license you need to accumulate 12 points on your license to get it taken away in jersey,,,i have 4.. you dont get points on your license out here for things like no front plate loud music ojects obstructing view,,you get them for speeding and moving violations

 

At some point you have to look at yourself, and what you do on a daily basis while driving...after that many tickets, even if it is the cops that are just jagggoffs, you have to do something differently.

I spent the first 2 years of my driving life in jersey...and i had a stint similar to yours where i just couldn't get in the car without getting pulled over.

So i got the hell out of that shithole state! but seriously, change something, don't take your car to seaside, come on...you see some of the scumbags down there, cops just think you're one of them. Go in something low key, and enjoy the girls and the boardwalk, have fun...while your car(its clean man)sits at home and has no worries!

Traffic cops are pointless, they're only job is to generate the cash....and they'll rape you any chance they get.
Play they're game, don't do anything stupid at "hot spots"....and if you do go down there in the Camaro, keep the radio down, throw the front plate on in a temporary fashion and let someone else draw the attention.

pay all the fines off quick, and go to any court dates they're making you go to....lay low for a few months, and they'll forget about you!

You obviously gave them a reason to ticket you. If the police had the ability to ticket people for running their mouth, I think you'd qualify.

Most cops i have met are on a powertrip, they think just cause they have alittle power that they should use it to fullest all the time. I drive my camaro like a grandmaw on the street. Mosly because it isent exackly street legal. Dont get me wrong i am not saying i dont have alittle fun in it but i alwayse do it on backroads with no close houses where the possibility of cops is low.

My point is, its not alwayse what you do it is where and when you do it.

i_love_thirdgen, I don`t know about anyone else but I have no problem with you young guys, I was your age once. Is there really a place called Beer City? The cops of today are a totally different breed than the ones I grew up with. I realize times have changed and not for the better but I don`t see why these guys(and gals) can`t cut some slack some time. I live 1 house from the ocean in Southern Cal. and a few years ago I went out to the beach to have a smoke around mid-night after getting back from the hospital, my Mother was in CCU and not expected to recover. Anyway, the city I live in passed an ordinance to close the beach at 10 pm and no smoking. 2 cops on quads pull up in front of me, jump off their quads, throw me to the sand, handcuff me and then search me. Cost me $247 to take a walk and have a smoke in my "back yard." Was I wrong? Yes, but I think they could have cut me some slack.

I haven't had a front plate in over 10 years. Then one day I called nailed by a sheriff in the goat. I was in a line of 3 cars and he threw a u-turn just to write me up. On the same day, a state cop yanked me out of a line of about 10 cars. Showed him the ticket from about 2 hours earlier and he left. I wasn't about to drill into the bumper so I rigged up something from the stock holder. Just flipped it over and wired tired thru the grill.

I think the front plate is a joke but finally got burned. Paid the fine and was pissed.

 

Why are you guys so down on a petty 200-300 ticket? Hell I just paid a 3,700.00 overweight ticket. And yes that one hurt real bad LOL ... but hey you break the law pay for it simple as that.

you younger guys...17-21, do what we used to do, not a care in the world, you're just enjoying life and your car. And theres nothing wrong with that, its the way it should be. But after a few overnighters down at county, and a few thousand dollars later, you become more protective of yourself and your property.

We all know theres cops out there that just lose sight of what its like to be a regular human being, they get used to dealing with real criminals and scum so we our de-valued in their minds...its no excuse, but its our job and obviously in our best interest to stay away from them, and let the ricers have that end of the spectrum.

Speaking of pumping gas.... I was passing through Jersey for the first time last summer on my way to NYC. Why in the hell can't I pump my own gas?

 

I drive around with no front plate also (which is against the law here) but I also know that if I get pulled over (which I have) I have to pay the ticket.no problem. The loud music ordinance sucked when it first was put into law in my city. but that becuase of a bunch of dumba55e5 going around residential areas at 4am blaring Baby Got Back. And as far as cops go, some are good old guys that don't mind a little tire smoke, others are out to prove something especially if you lip-off. If you know the laws it's your own fault if you get caught, I'll still take my chances.

BTW i have accumulated over 20 speeding tickets (sad but true) during my high school and college days and truthfully I was never mad at the cops because I was always speeding- I was mad at my radar detector plenty of times though!!!

 

You made some very good points, I totally agree with you. I also go without the front plate and if i get ticketed i cant complain because i knowingly have it off. I do beleive there are some decent cops out there, but for every decent one there are 5 that are on a power trip and to prove something. I used to want to be in law enforcement until I was a police explorer for a few months, I learned that sometimes they really are just out to get you and they do say things looking to set you off, but then theres a good cop that doesnt do anything he doesnt haft to out of the soul purpose he knows he is just as human as someone else. In my town the cops just have nothing better to do than pull someone over and say it was for loud music even if its not that loud or for it being a suspicios vehicle. I have yet to get a ticked, but ive been pulled over many times.
