92 LX stang w/95 cobra motor vs 383 HSR
Buddy of mine just traded his 05 SRT 4 for a 91 LX with a 95 cobra motor in it. It also has full exhaust, 373 with posi, SFC, CAI, throttle body and MSD wires/cap. I went for a ride in it....doesnt feel like its slow at all but I dont know. A stick car feels different than an auto car(mine).....any thoughts on who would come out of this? My best run so far has been a 12.89@ 107. I am upgrading my 2500 stall to a 10" 3400 stall and switching out 323 gears to 373.

Re: 92 LX stang w/95 cobra motor vs 383 HSR
if its just a bolt on 5.0 cobra motor then i think you shoud have him, depending on how light that stang is. i know 95 cobras are slow with bolt ons but are heavier than those foxes.
someone will correct me if i'm wrong but a 95 cobra motor only differs from a stock GT 5.0 in that it has a better intake manifold and tuning to go with it. i think they were rated at 240hp as opposed to 215 for the GT i thought.
The guy here with a Lx stang tho with cobra intake on his 5.0 with full exhaust and a stick has gone high 12s at 106+ on street tires so it could be close.
i think your car has alot more in it than what the time slip shows. you need more converter lol and gear

thats about what i'd expect with a bolt on 5.0. thats abit less than my bolt on L98 is. i'm probly at 250-255 now
i think you'll have him. i'd put him trapping in the 103 range if its around 3200 lb race weight

Cobra motors got better heads, better intake, better TB, better injectors, better MAF, better rockers, better headers, but a crappier computer.
My car with stock heads (cobra valves and rockers), cobra intake, cobra TB, MAF, exhuast, pulleys, and 3.73s made 258/295 and at 3200 lbs runs 12.9-13.0 all day at 106.
His car seems a little low on power, and the 103 mph sounds about right for 3200 lbs. You should walk him easily.

Also, is the 3200 with you in the car or out?

Re: 92 LX stang w/95 cobra motor vs 383 HSR
Hard to say. A used Cobra motor might toss down 240, but with full exhaust a regular LX or GT computer, and other small stuff it should make more. A bolt on 5.0 with a Cobra intake should put down 220-230, could put down 240 though. That number seems to be low for a bolt on cobra, but a little high for a bolt on stock 5.0...
My guess is it could be a cobra motor, just ragged out and in need of a freshening up.
EDIT: 3200 is with me in it

Do you know what a 5.0 Ho runs in the 1/4 mile with bolt ons? My friend say's he is getting gears, headers, H Pipe, bigger TB, pullies, Mac Intake... Pretty much all the Mac Upgrades.

With those mods, or very similar on a tire I went 13.05 @ 103. It's hard to say, anywhere between 12s on a tire with good driving, to 14s with a bad driver in terrible condition. Average should be somewhere in the 13s.
