Re: do yall hook on the street?
on my old street tires, i'll break loose at 25-30mph rolls once the trans downshifts and goes. no chance in hell in first gear. new street tires hooks somewhat better but still pretty poor
et streets and skinnies, its not too bad, it hooks ok but definately no where near like a full launch at the track

Re: do yall hook on the street?
Well, what do you cinsider "hook"? I spin and feather it out and i get going ok, it is not horrible, i am running a 2,73 in the rear, so i think when i install my dana 44 with a 3.55 gear i might start spinning worse.

Re: do yall hook on the street?
I smokem all through first and second, on the street I usually launch at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle depending on what kind of pavement it is. That rough pavement that has like stones in it I can get pretty good traction but that realy smooth type of black top forget it.

What do you consider "big" in the cam department? I have 295/50/15s inj the back, they are ok, wat better than any other radial that is available size wise without goung out of the way to find it.

285 tires out back = pedal first and second or I'm sitting still.
26x11 Slicks out back = pedal first and second or I'm dpinning just as bad.
Cold weather with either sets of tires spin bad from anything less than 3rd gear. More fun to drive it around the spin in my eyes!

Re: do yall hook on the street?
I hook really good on the street. It seems like I hook better on the street than I do on the track,
but that could also explain my 2.1-2.4 60 times
Im running Federal 595 ss
and my 305 runs 13.3's
I have no prob on the street but on the track is where it kills me.

Re: do yall hook on the street?
I hook just fine on the street with the ET streets; street tires, it's an art getting that thing out of the hole! Add the nitrous on top of that and you have one ***** of a vehicle to get a good run out of. It'll make a heck of a driver out of you learning to get a good L98 car to go fast on street tires.

On my et street radials it hooks kinda ok from a WOT launch, with the street tires I can spin both until ~45mph.

Re: do yall hook on the street?
on 275-50-15 mt drag radials, set at 20psi.. i spin them throught first and to do a nice chirp in second.. on normal 235/55-16 street tires, i burn straight through second and do a healthy chirp in third..

Re: do yall hook on the street?
Seeing as your truck is about as fast as my car, and probably very light in the back, I can only imagine...
Also at the track I found out when my traction loc fails it is a BEAR to hook. Pedalling and riding the clutch and crappy 2.1-2.3 60's and blowing the tires away through second and into 3rd. Awful times (13.3s @ 107+) but time to upgrade

Re: do yall hook on the street?
It just so happens he could (wrecked now i believe) have plowed snow with that car, but that's still besides the point. Hooking better on the street than the track is complete bs unless theres TONS of prep work done on the road and none on the track. And even then

Re: do yall hook on the street?
Exactly, bad track prep will KILL the track quick. I've see water drawn up 100 feet past the staging beams, seen cars puke oil down the track and they put kitty litter down, dredge it with the tire bar a few times and LEAVE IT ON THE TRACK, seen piles of rubber so deep they had 2 little channels they put cones up to force you to keep your tires in them, saw them place cones COMPLETELY out of the groove, so far in fact that my passenger tire was on bare concrete. Yeah it all really depends on the track; a crappy prepared track is worse than clean pavement.

I haven't floored my car in first gear yet. I don't know. I'm willing to bet it doesn't hook at all with my BFG radials.

Re: do yall hook on the street?
street tires are uselss, but with the jegster torque arm, aftermarket lca's/panhard rod, lca relocation brackets, and the 275/60/15 MT ET Street Radials set at 18psi, i can roll into the throttle and be fine. but launching on the transbrake or just straight up stabbing the throttle, it blitz's them pretty hard...but what do you expect with 4.56's out back, lol! i had some guys at an O'Reilly Autoparts watch me in the parking lot and they said the first time i launched the car, it nearly picked up the front tires, but i was going easy. the second time i really leaned on it and it just smoked em up...little 305 is ready to dangle them at the track i think!!!

Re: do yall hook on the street?
My little ol 305 if i smash it in first i light em up, and when i shift into 2nd it chirps so hard it kicks the a** end of my car to the right and i chirp 3rd, so im not sure which one of those 3 count as a hook

Re: do yall hook on the street?
I have 295/50s on my car, Their just cheap tires but if i roll into the throttle they spin for about 15 ft, not spinning to much but still spinning. If i floor it is just a smoke show. All i have is a high 13 sec 305 that needs alot of tuneing, has a bad bog down low.

Newsflash, spinning isn't really a good thing. I went to the track the other night and got pissed off cuz I was slightly spinning right off the line.
