You would beat him off the line, but down the road he would probably take you by a couple.

why would that be?

You are making about 70 lb-ft of torque more than him, and you are making it down low. However he makes about 10-15hp more than you and weighs about 500 pounds less.
Use your torque advantage out of the hole, but don't spin the tires. It will be impossible for you too catch up up top. Sling shot past him off the line and I think that he will not be able to catch up to you. Your gearing is probably your biggest enemy right now. If you had a 3:XX posi that would help alot.

I've had many experiences with camrys, jettas, and the like. The 305 will catch them off the line, but if your going longer than a quarter, I did country roads(1/2-3/4 mi), believe me you'll be embarrassed when they start slowly passing you.

so what do you guys think my next mod should be besides a 350. Like a nos kit or something lol.

gears...get rid of the anemic pegleg and go with a 3.23 or 3.42 even if you don't go with a posi, you'll be making much better use of your superior low rpm torque

Can't be any worse than looking like a P*S$Y that is scared to race a Japanese Family sedan.. The worst thing is you added that stuff & you still haven't run him... Here's a better idea too.. Hook your damn AC back up... when you turn the switch off it doesn't draw any power off your engine.. Another good cheap mod if you haven't already: Go buy a 14X3 round K&N filter and a cheapo chrome air cleaner housing... my car felt much happier after that.. with the crappy 2.73 gears.

1994 Camry's had a curb weight of about 3000 lbs... The Camaro is about 3200... that's not that big of a difference. The camry will definitely win though.

I do have a 3.42 in the garage ready to go in though. Too bad it would cost me more to drive up there than I paid for my car. Hell my heavy *** 3/4 ton feels like it will probably run even with our cars. & I know for a fact that my Bronco could outrun them easily because I have done it before.... like the 305 F-body was standing still. and GoodlookinRS dude u shouldnt have a problem with him cause even befor u added 3:73 posi u would have gotin him off the line so adding that is gona get u a better start and the headers and y pipe help to but the ac and emmisons stuff gone dont help to much but from what i rember in one post u said ur ac didnt work so getin rid of it helped the look of the engine bay alot plus if it didnt work who needs the dead weight same as if u dont have emmisons where u live

That 305TPI should be in the 15s pretty easy, even with the crap gearing. My 305TBI was in mid 16s. That being said you should beat him uless you guys decide to race to 100mph, giving his torque-less Camry time to catch up.

I mean you think what you want b/c i know what it cant and can do. But heres some specs on the car the cam .720 in lift thats a big cam. The heads are 4v the intake is 2.9in thats big. Go along with that is an 1100 demon. But sure guys it runs a 17 sec 1/4. my car 35sec 1/4. ok done with this.

That mustang is on street tires... and running that big of a cam in a 302 or 351 would exclude it from ever hoping to drive on the street. And nobody runs 9's in a '69 mustang with the stock leaf springs... even with serious slapper bars. Those are 2V heads too... the they're not wide enough to support 4V. Does it have a roll cage? (requred for 9 second cars to run on any legitimate track) and I don't see wheelie bars which are almost a necessity for cars running that fast. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I suggest you stop trying to continue with this fabrication and keep the dignity you have left.

I am done talking about it but i just wanted to clear it up. It is a 1970 351 clevalnd it has been bored 3 times now b/c when we bought it the guy was racing with it an blew twice and sat in his garage for like 15 years so we rebuilt and strokes it even more. The clevland dose have 4v heads stock at least the good 351's the 351 m they suck. But yes the cam is the biggest one it will hold. We had the car for about 10 years now so yes its now set up for no drag strip we go to show and what not. But it dose have the ford 9 in with 4:56 gears.

So think what you think its not your car and i am done talking as far as i care you can say it has a 6cyl thats what i tell people at my school with my car b/c i dont care.

Ya man i hate my 305 but october or november the 383 is going in and its going to be around 400-420 to the rear so hopefully be a low 11 sec car. But he is a good friend he just thinks all the toyotas are bad *** and it seems like everyone loves them supras.

Well, I see the confusion over the heads, I thought you were talking about 4 valve heads... which would mean dual overhead cam and all that crap... As it sits it's certainly not in 9 second trim... but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that perhaps it has the engine to do so... we wouldn't really have any idea without hearing it run... which would be cool if you could arrange... if it is a herculean cammed SBF it ought to sound pretty mean.

With making my car 11 yes i know it will take more than just an engine i am working on it.

With the mustang it sounds very good to me. I will try to figure out how to post a video.

I've got a 351C in my '72 Mustang vert. with stock powertrain. The heads for a 2-barrel carb/intake are different than the heads for a 4-barrel carb/intake. That's not a typo... they made a 351C with a 2-barrel carb and put different heads on it. In order to properly swap my 2-barrel for a 4-barrel carb, I've got to change out the entire top end including the heads.

By the way, did I mention that was a beautiful Mustang whether or not it runs 9's?

ya man tryin to race a carmy is bad cause i rember like a month ago im drivin around and i pull up to this carmy and i dont think enything of it i just kinda laugh at the sticker in the back window that says "fear this" lol how em i gona fear a stock lookin carmy well i didnt even no he wanted to race untill he took off from the light so i hit the gas and passed him like nothing but it was a bissy road that cops r always on so i wasnt tryin to get pull over mostly cause i dont have Insurance on the camaro so i was done but he speed off thinking hes cool then he passes a cop and gets pulled over and i just laugh and laugh
