Pulled on a Lamborghini.

I was coming home from the dyno yesterday. I looked in the rewview mirror and saw a Canary yellow car comming up pretty fast in the number four lane. I was doing 65 in the slow lane, he must have been doing 80-85. I start to get over to the three lane to get a better look. As it gets closer it starts to look like a Lamborghini Countach 5000. It is! I down shift to third and pace him as he starts to pass. I just wanted to look at the car but was ready for any thing. Well him and his friend must have heard the exhaust wail of 4,000rpm and thought I wanted to race. Him and his friend look over and smile/ chuckle. I start to give the thumbs up when I see him down shift and the nose pick up. I matted it instantly and started to pull away. First by one car then two by the time I shifted to fourth at around 120 something I could see him in my rewview mirror about three cars back. He gave up then. I shut down and started to slow to give the thumbs up. His friend was laughing and giving him hell. He looked over waved and gave me a big smile. He wanted to keep driving 85 so I let him go. It was the most awsome street race I have ever been in

For some reason, i just dont believe that..maybe because theres no way that a Z-28 stock would beat a lambo..unless it was a kit car, in which case i'd believe it, because they build kit cars on fiero's.

Relax bro. The mostly stock is a joke. Look at the time and mph in the sig. That was with 350rwhp. I had just put 386rwhp (corrected SAE) down at the dyno before that run.

We all have to remember that even the 80's exotics were choked by emmissions just as our cars were. Now we can mod our cars to be much more powerful and still be emmissions legal(where required). I really don't think an exotic car owner would mod his megabuck car and depreciate its value. In their day they were the fastest around, bar none, but most 80's exotics are not incredibly fast by todays standards. I believe most would have trouble with alot of the higher end V8 muscle produced in the last few years. Then again maybe this guy just didn't want to push his car as hard as you were willing to push yours. Nice kill though.

Yeah, the older lamborghinis are over rated, they just have the name behind them. IIRC, the countach ran a mid-high 13... i wanna say 13.7??? Don't quote me. And his car runs 12.0, that sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Even if they ran 13 flat, he'd still kill it.

Awesome car bro! Wow, all areas of modding covered in attention... I should hope you'd be smacking stock "supercars" at least until around 150mph. Good kill!

Thanks for the compliments guys. I have tried hard to cover every aspect of modification. I still have some chassis issues to cover and then I should be done for a while. I was just going for a solid low 11 sec, stock looking street car. I think I have accomplished that. 10's on the bottle is no problem so I guess 9's are next. I will keep you guys updated with the progress.

Very nice kill man, your car definately has my respect. This thread should have had that title "HUGE win for the f-body crowd" instead of that other post (j/k)

When I drove it out here from TN it got 24mpg on the flats and 22mpg through the mountians. But that was at a perfect 128 BLM. I get about 18 average driving to and from work. More highway than stop and go though. I guess I can't complain.

Now the guy with the exotic has to complain about how much money he spent on his car that lost to an F body. Great car btw.

One of my friends who used to have a 98 LS1 TA, when i was with him cruising I-75, we a saw red 80s Ferrari Testarossa. Unfortunately we were already going like 70mph, but either way, the Testarossa slammed it at that speed, and that exhaust note was LOUD! We couldnt keep up with it, shutdown at about 105.

He had Flowmaster catback, and 3.73 gears, nice TA, but he got to many points, and had to sell. Now he has a Bravada...lol.

Exotic cars, race them from the start, anything from a roll, its over.

I do pick on Vipers. ACR Vipers to be exact. I ran one at the track. We are one and one. It was all driver though. I ran a 12.03 @ 116.48. He ran a 12.005 @ 121.23. I had the RT and 60ft on him. I got him by a fender. He got me by a fender in the first race. His dyno numbers are 460rwhp and 502rwtq. His car only weighs 3,500 with him in it and mine weighs 3,650. And that was on the bad converter. 350rwhp and 452rwtq. So the more powerful car doesn't alwayse win. We were both on street tires. He was on 345's and I was on 245's.

I think the thing that gets VIpers is a crappy rear-end. 3.08 : /
eh, still awesome kill, Vipers should be much faster for what they are, but then again, I think a great deal of their engineering also goes into top speed. Still, third gens never cease to amaze me with what they can do. Another reason why I like them so much!

Wow this old. I had completely forgotten about that kill. As another said, I sold that car a long time ago. I miss it some times and the rest of the time I remember what a pain in the butt it was. It actually makes me chuckle at how I thought it was so fast back then. It had alot of kills none the less and I guess for the time it was pretty quick.

If you look up in the mod list post you can see what injectors I was running. I think I was running 52psi fuel pressure. I hope this helps.

I have an 02 Z06 now. I just dropped an LS3 416 in it that I am breaking in and tuning. So far in third gear (my tuning gear) from 2,500-6,700 rpm or 40-102 mph it is .825 tenths faster than the 383 I just took out that made 490/445rw and ran 10.8's@130 on motor with a week 1.65ft 60ft. I am expecting it to put down 550/525rw and run 9.9@137 on motor when all is said and done.
