Sure, no problem, Click Here....

Tell your friend that movies like "The Fast and the Furious" glorify the nonsense such as the above, but the people behind the movies, who ARE responsible (because kids are very impressionable), are never held accountable. It's not a good feeling having to ring the doorbell at 4:00 in the morning, explaining to your friend's parents that they were seriously hurt in a street race, been there, done that, and never, never, again....

im worried because she really is a good person. She moved away and shes starting to do dangerous things like this and it worries me because she's too naive about it. I can't find the right words to convince her and i was hoping for some help is all

My apologies if I sounded rude, it's just being a father does this to you. I look back on some of the crap that I pulled, and now I understand what everybody's parents must have went through when I was younger. A person with her mentality is very hard to convince, because in her mind, she's got it all figured out. She needs to be scared straight, that is the only thing that will do it. Unfortunately, it's going to require an experience, and like I was saying, hopefully not an unfortunate one....

It's just like drugs, you can tell some teens over and over again not to do them, but they just won't listen. Society simply puts too much pressure on kids today, it has too much leverage, and because of this, everyone wants to be apart of it's culture, in some ridiculous way or another. You should be thankful that she has an interest in cars, as most teenage/early 20's girls go another route entirely. Her's can be changed to a positive. Take her to a race track, have her let loose on the 1/4 mile, who knows, she might have a positive experience, and change her mind. It did me, and I was worse than her, believe me....

Re: Help me out here guys.

i would take her to a track. The problem is she now lives like 6 hours away from me. Like i said in the original post though, i mapquested it, and there are no less than 6 racetracks in her area. She just likes the danger of it i suppose.

She also seemed to think that these street racers are the best drivers in the world and have some of the fastest cars. The way she talked about it i am positive she was idolizing the entire affair. It worries me because i know on atleast 3 accounts she was in her BF's car when he was street racing. On the wrong side of the road... I don't know where this is coming from because she's usually quite reserved.

i know what you mean by pressure though. I take all the stress out with my car. Had a bad day? work on the car. Feel like the worlds ending? lets go look for some car parts. etc etc etc. It's hard being the only kid in school that doesnt smoke, drink, do drugs, or break the law on purpose. (i like bending it though!).

im proud to say im the only kid at my school that drives a camaro though!

I had the same mentality as her, until i almost totalled a car with two other people in it. That mellowed me out. Like street lethal said experience is the only thing that works.

Maybe that's why im so against it. I remember when i was younger, maybe 8 or 9, me and dad were cruising in our Mustang (yes my family has both stangs and camaros) and we almost got hit head-on by 2 idiots racing. The car that almost hit us was a white Buick regal, and we had to swerve all the way off the road into a parking lot to save ourselves, and we barely made it. The guy didnt even slow down, he just kept racing his buddy.

Scary crap. I never really realized that may be why im so against it.

Re: Help me out here guys.

Where does she live and is she attractive?

I'm kidding in case you didn't catch that.

Nothing your gonna do in this scenario and the sad part is she wont realize it until something bad happens. Seems to be the case with everyone, they don't learn until it's too late.

Also if she thinks real race cars aren't built... not sure what to day to that?

when i pointed out the fact that real race cars are built, usually by hand, to a much greater degree of precision and power, she began cursing at me in anger.. this was shortly before the video and she ran away saying she had to "go somewhere".

Old enough to get killed street racing, and young enough not to know better.

I pointed out many of the flaws immediatly but i don't think she really understood that there is nothing real about those movies.

Re: Help me out here guys.

sounds niave and immature. IMHO she seems like she's just trying to seem like a badass. Anyone that idolizes fast and furious is obviously phony and doesn't know much. We have a word for that: Poser. I wouldn't worry about it. Chances are she's just trying to sound ba, and probably won't do anything, even if she says she does.

What's real, is, women like that have personalities like wet mops. I've had more fun washing dishes than hanging with the "home" girls. I mean, it's cool when your like 15-16 years old, but come on now. She needs to understand that it's all an act. The actors get paid for acting the way they do, I mean, what does this friend of yours think they do.... immediately hit the city streets looking for action when production is wrapped LOL?

There is a TREMENDOUS difference between Michelle Rodriguez the tough girl actor, and Michelle Rodriguez the very attractive woman. Your friend needs to see through Hollywood's facade, otherwise, she's,
....

A track has many benefits.
  • Prepped and level surface
  • Guardrails to keep your 100mpg missile within the lanes should something go awry.
  • Ambulances
  • Time Slips for permanent record

I bet she complains about her high insurance rates too. She will soon learn after her first accident. Youth often accompanies ignorance, which negates any attempt at an open and intelligent dialog. Just ask Hulk Hogans son how awesome his supra is.
